How We Met

We Were Set Up!

We were introduced by our friends Aric and Brittany Rodriguez! We all went out on a double date to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and then to see the movie "Deadpool". I remember being so nervous with every wall around me up and the first thing Alex ever did when he met me was give me a really big hug! I remember wanting to find someone so badly and was slowly losing hope and Alex was determined to find someone before Valentine's Day (we met two days later)! That is probably the only time I was ever late for anything. Sorry babe! - Tati

The Proposal

Best. Birthday. EVER!

Alex wanted to bring me to NYC to my favorite sight for my birthday, The Rockefeller Christmas Tree. With Covid, His best man Nick and him came up with another plan. He brought me to dinner and then said that he wanted me to see at least some type of Christmas lights. I was weary because we had company coming over so I told him we could go another time. He kept insisting. Marist College had a gorgeous tree lit up for the holidays and when we pulled into the parking lot I saw a security guard and grew nervous that we were going to get in trouble. As soon as we got out of the car, sure enough, the security guard drove over to us and told us that the campus was closed and we had to leave. Alex tried to explain to the guard the plan he had and that it was a special night, but she still told us to leave. I told Alex that it was okay and that we could come back another time when the campus was open. Alex and I walked back to the car, and the security guard drove away towards the tree where our friend Nick was hiding in the tree (without my knowledge). When he saw what was happening and saw us pull away, he rushed out of the tree, walked out to the security guard and explained what Alex was trying to do. Alex was nervous because he thought his plan had been ruined. He kept driving around the parking lot and insisted he try to talk to the security guard again. He parked the car when the security guard pulled up, then hopped out to talk to her. Luckily she just asked us to make it quick. Alex got back into the truck and said, “Let’s Go”. I kept asking him, “What did you say to her?” and he just kept walking with a slight grin. It was so cold! Then we stood in front of the most beautiful Christmas Tree! We were reminiscing about how crazy the past few years have been & about all the fond memories we had in Poughkeepsie. Then on one knee he said, “Tatiana Brielle Colonna, will you marry me?” & the shaking from the cold turned into shaking with excitement.
