How They Met

Same Place, Wrong Time

Before becoming a couple, Ali and Davie attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute at the same time and became social media friends shortly before graduating. Later to find out, the couple had been nearly crossing paths their entire time in college, from attending the same concerts and school events, to jobs at the mall, to dorm rooms being a floor apart, but never actually met in person. Ali decided to stay in the Pittsburgh area after graduation to be close to work and friends. She posted a familiar view from the dorm room apartment complex on her socials and Davie recognized it immediately, sparking a conversation between them. A couple months later, they would meet the first time for their first date at Dave & Busters and Sing Sing Piano bar with the bride’s friends in town!

The Proposal

New Years 2022

The Groom’s POV: In the summer of 2021 I knew it was time to start planning to ask Ali to marry me. I've known for years I was going to marry her, but it seemed like the right time to actually ask. I asked her mom and brother for their permission and it was all about planning after that. I thought it would be very romantic to start the new year as an engaged couple so I planned a New Year’s Eve party at our house. Invited some of our closest friends and family to celebrate the New Year and celebrate our engagement. Fast forward to New Year’s Day. Everything went perfectly as planned. Everyone knew, except for Ali of course, so everyone would ask me, "are you excited? Nervous?" I was so nervous the entire day. I didn't think she'd say no or anything, but I just wanted everything to be perfect, And it was. As soon as the ball was dropping and we were counting down, I had the ring in my back pocket ready. After we shared our first kiss of the New Year, she went to take pictures with her girls. I went in the middle of the room and got down on one knee, waiting for her to turn around. I'll never forget the look on her face when she saw me on one knee. I was ready to ask but was so nervous so I got a little choked up. But the words came out, "I don't want to spend my life with anyone but you, will you marry me" and she tearfully said yes. Still one of my favorite nights of my life The Bride’s POV: I had absolutely no idea what was in store for me that night. Everything had seemed normal. I picked out my outfit and got my nails done, but this was a typical New Year’s Eve routine for me. Little did I know, I had some of the sneakiest people around me! Our friends and family had known for a little before, and they tricked me every part of the way. Even Davie had me fooled. We had a wonderful dinner with our friends before coming back to our house to watch the ball drop together. Nothing seemed amiss until the countdown got to 3! I would say yes a million times over. I couldn’t image marrying anyone else.
