Los Poblanos is beautiful working organic farm encompassing lavender fields. The farm provides produce for the restaurant and cultivates lavender for the extraction of lavender oil for body care products. They have a cute little Farm Shop where you can find all things lavender. Another favorite on the farm is Campo, a casual fine dining restaurant that sources local ingredients and celebrates the foods indigenous to New Mexico's Rio Grande Valley.

As you drive to the Jemez Springs, you'll start to see that beautiful red rock that is classic of the Southwest. The San Antonio Hot Springs are naturally made geothermal springs. There is a short little hike to reach the springs but it is worth it! If you are adventurous, it's fun to go at night time so you can see all the evening stars in the sky.

While this land can be mistaken for something out of Star Wars, the Bisti/De-Na-Zin is protected land that is found in the Four Corners, which encompass unusual rock formations formed from the weathering of sandstone, called hoodoos. Translated from the Navajo language, Bisti (Bis-tie) means "a large area of shale hills." De-Na-Zin (Deh-nah-zin) takes its name from the Navajo words for "cranes." Dinosaur fossils inhabit these badlands, representing how ancient this region is.

The Very Large Array Radio Telescope facility is a two-hour drive from Albuquerque, 50 miles west of Socorro, New Mexico. From the early 1960s at NRAO, astronomers knew they needed an array of radio dishes to complement the work of our giant, single-dish telescopes. An array is a group of several radio antennas observing together creating — in effect — a single telescope many miles across.

The cottonwood forest that borders the Rio Grande runs through New Mexico; its habitat is both unique and diminishing. It’s known as “the Bosque,” which means “woods” or “forest” in Spanish. Its riparian forests provide an oasis of valuable resources for animals and plants living in an otherwise arid Southwest habitat. Rio Grande cottonwoods have been growing in the Bosque for more than a million years and are heavily dependent on a reliable water supply for germination and survival. There are lovely trails that are perfect for walking or bike riding. Here you'll have a chance to walk along the ecosystem of the Rio Grande River.

Mount Wheeler is the tallest mountain in NM at 13,161 feet. Gorgeous views at the top of the mountain as you can see nothing but the landscape of NM. There is a nice little elevation gain of about 3000ft. Highly recommend if you have the chance!! It'll take about 3 hours to drive to the trailhead from ABQ.
