Detroit is the motor city and unfortunately, public transportation is limited here. We recommend either Lyft/Uber, or MetroCab. If you plan to rent a car, there are several garages in the city for parking, but rates vary.
The hotels we have selected with room blocks are all within close walking distance to our scheduled events (will be posting soon). If you are driving in, the venue has parking available.
A common question for out of state visitors. We feel very safe walking around city center Detroit. If you plan to venture outside of city center (which we encourage, because some of the best dining can be found in surrounding areas!), let us know and we will be happy to guide your choices and provide advice on the best areas to explore
Michigan is a beautiful place to visit, especially during the fall! If you plan to extend your trip to see more of our state, we highly recommend heading up north towards Traverse City or driving west to explore the Lake Michigan shore line.
Detroit is a secret foodie city with amazing restaurants. Some of our favorite places in downtown Detroit include: Chartreuse Kitchen and Cocktails (our absolute favorite), the Apparatus Room, and Hiroki-San. For coffee and breakfast we recommend Madcap Coffee, Dessert Oasis, and Dime Store. If you are feeling adventurous and want to leave downtown: Takoi, Flowers of Vietnam, Barda, and Dragonfly are a short 10 minute drive. Mabel Gray and Freya are both top rated for tasting menus if you are looking for something special. Many of these restaurants require reservations several days in advance on either Tock or Resy.
