While studying Human Rights in their senior year of high school, Alex and Matt were assigned to a group project together having never met prior. A connection was quickly formed, and shortly thereafter, Matt asked Alex to prom, thus beginning their relationship. Both ended up going to college in the midwest (Alex at Purdue University, Matt at Miami University) and would try to see each other as often as possible. While Matt took a little longer to graduate, Alex went on to pursue her nursing degree in New York. Shortly after graduating, Matt took up a job in Michigan, with Alex following shortly after.

Alex and Matt enjoy a good walk amongst nature. On this particular day, they were hiking in Glacier National Park on the Highline Trail as part of a 10 day trip to Whitefish, MT., and Banff NP in Canada. Alex and Matt stopped halfway to enjoy a quick snack and take in the scenic view of the park. As they were packing up to continue on, Matt proposed to Alex, and they began planning the rest of their loves together.
