The Stingray City Sandbar is our first recommendation to anyone visiting Grand Cayman. Red Sail Sports will take you on a 65' luxury catamaran to swim, pet, and play with the stingrays up close. It is truly an unforgettable experience! Most tours also take you to a coral reef nearby for some snorkeling. *Please note: We will be hosting everyone on a trip to Stingray City on Friday!
If you'd like to explore off the beach a bit, we recommend a visit to Camana Bay, a lively waterfront town just a quick walk from SMB where you can satisfy your foodie cravings, shop for all things local and explore weekly Farmers & Artisans Markets. Our favorite restaurants in Camana Bay are Agua and Mizu! Jessie's Juice Bar is also a must-stop for all things healthy including fresh squeezed juices, smoothies and kombucha brewed on the island.
As non-divers, we cannot vouch for it ourselves, but the Cayman Islands are a world-class dive destination! Grand Cayman's West Wall is famous for its huge sand channels, swim-throughs and amazing scenery. Cayman's North Wall is popular due to its spectacular topography with sheer wall faces that go from 50 feet to 5000 feet, and an abundance of huge coral formations. And right off SMB, the wreck of the ex-USS Kittiwake is an artificial reef attraction with great year round diving conditions, easy access and many areas to explore.
The only 18-hole championship golf course in the Cayman Islands – a par 71, 6605 yard course offering challenging play, perennial postcard views and sun-drenched greens. Also home to Ellen's lowest round ever and Tom's record number of lost balls!
One of our favorite restaurants on the island, Sunshine Grill is a casual but colorful poolside restaurant with award winning food at an affordable price. Located at the Sunshine Suites right behind the Westin, the Sunshine Grill is Trip Advisor’s number 1 rated restaurant in the Cayman Islands serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
A casual, beachside restaurant, Coccoloba Bar & Grill is up on the waterfront, and one of our favorite places to eat on Seven Mile Beach. Sporting an open-air, three-sided bar and ocean views in all directions, it is right off of the Cayman Island’s Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa property. As for the food - think Mexican street food meets Caribbean seafood.
Calico Jacks is a laid back beach bar to hit up for some afternoon drinks! Right off the beach, the bar also has a food menu and TVs. If you see a bunch of cruise ships in port (you won't miss them!), wait until 3 pm when the crowds clear out.
We'll be honest - Lone Star isn't the most 'islandy' of Cayman restaurants but in our opinion is one of the most fun and a great place to watch sports! As the name implies, the menu has Texas twang with some Caribbean flair as well. P.S. We plan on watching the Cowboys | Bears game here on Thursday night! Please join us for some beers and TNF!
The Wharf is another upscale dining experience on the water with a delicious seafood focused menu and has been a Cayman fixture for 30 years. You'll need to hop in a 5 minute taxi to get here! P.S. There is a nightly feeding of the resident tarpons - 50+ lb fish that swim by the restaurant from around 6 pm to their feeding at 9 pm. It's always a fun thing to watch!
