It was the year 2011 and Alexa and Michael, sophomores at San Diego State University, frequented sophisticated social engagements at the fraternity AEPi. Throughout these many occasions, Alexa and Michael still had not met. A mutual friend had organized a celebration upon a bus to dance and enjoy the finest beverages the fraternity had to offer. There were about 15 people… and yet the two lovebirds still didn’t fully connect. A fine photograph exists from that event on Alexa’s camera where in the background of the friends she was taking a picture of, Michael is seen dancing upside-down on a metal, cylindrical pillar of sorts. They weren’t ready for each other just yet. Fast-forward 10 fun-filled, yet lonely years. Alexa had moved around California and Hawaii pursuing her LMFT and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and ended up back in Orange County. Michael went to Vermont and the Caribbean, but ended up back in San Diego. Both had searched far and wide for their soulmate and would not settle for anything less. Then fate interceded and they matched on the dating app Hinge. They were perfect for each other. Both Jewish and sober! What a match. They also had mutual friends from college and had similar hobbies and interests such as snowboarding, exercise, travel etc. But they lost touch. Then one magical day, Alexa “accidentally… on purpose” texted Michael pretending to confuse which person she was sending the message to. She wrote, “See you on the mountain in the morning Michael!” Michael was confused at this, and messaged back, “I think you have the wrong Michael…. But also hey how’s it going?!” He immediately remembered the sparks from their conversations and was excited to see if she had moved down to San Diego yet. Michael asked Alexa on their first date “as friends” to the rock climbing gym. Michael was already head over heels. Alexa would say the first date was a huge success. Alexa knew she was going to marry Michael! She told all of her friends and her mom that she found her husband. On their second date, Michael was already infatuated with Alexa and went in for a kiss. Alexa stopped him and asked, “what happened to being friends first mister?” After some blushing and studdering, he decided he didn’t want to be “just friends.” On their one month of dating, and for Alexa’s birthday, they went on a hot air balloon and then to dinner at Michael’s favorite restaurant. He asked her to be his girlfriend, to which she happily said, “I do.” Both Alexa and Michael knew they had found their person. Alexa would point to her ring finger, with her best pout face, and half-jokingly say, “Michael something’s missing!” For their 6 month anniversary, Michael took Alexa to Costa Rica and proposed to her on the beach. Michael would always jokingly start to go down on one knee, but this time it was for real. She even pushed him because she thought he was kidding. But when she saw her heart-shaped engagement ring, all Michael saw was a wide open gasp, a look of amazement and a huge smile. She jumped on him and gave him hugs and kisses. “Yes!” They laughed, hugged, kissed, and fell in the ocean together. Forever, Alexa and Michael share their hearts. Alexa wears Michael’s heart on her ring-finger as the reminder of their love. Michael also wears a ring on his ring-finger because Alexa wants every woman to know he’s taken. They had found their soulmate… their Beshert. And the rest is history….
