Maid of Honor
Jenna is the only person other than Alex that Maddie talks to every single day... which is to say that Jenna has spent a lot of time *listening* to Maddie talk. She’s had a hand in planning the day for years, including the thorough and exhaustive research of wedding dresses over ten seasons of bingewatching Say Yes to the Dress.
Best Man
Niko got the height, personality, and cooking talent of the Kerschner boys, and Alex has a long way to go to try to catch up. Everyone thinks Alex is the baseball star of the family, but Niko’s high school batting average and home run count were actually higher than Alex’s. (Are we trying to be extra nice to Niko so he says nice things about us in his speech? Maybe … )
Maid of Honor
The youngest member of the wedding party, Maddie’s youngest sister, Grace, is the life of any party. Grace, Jenna, and Maddie have turned countless nights into Taylor Swift dance parties, where only Grace can sing on-key. Grace has a few jobs for the big day, but the most important one is filling up the dance floor – she better see you there!
Groomsman
Alex is the founding member of the Nick Organ Fan Club (Ken Elkin, below, is a strong #2). It is easy to see why: photogenic, suave, valiant have all been words to describe this gentleman. In all honesty, Nick has been a great friend and mentor to both Maddie and Alex. Alex and Nick enjoy having sushi dates together without Maddie, and Nick enjoys riding the coattails of his awesome girlfriend, Emily, when they beat Alex & Maddie in a round of golf.
Bridesmaid
Emma is Alex’s younger sister and by far the coolest member of the Kerschner family. She’s also the biggest Green Bay Packers fan on the face of the earth. She and Maddie have bonded over Maddie’s mediocre softball career, Starbucks, the Bachelor, and all 17 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy.
Groomsman
Greg and Alex are cousins, but being so close in age and spending so much time together growing up, Greg became more like a brother. From playing on the same soccer team and play dates at Grandma’s house to celebrating Notre Dame wins together, Greg and Alex have done it all. Greg is also proud to say he’s been “Team Maddie” from the beginning!
Bridesmaid
Katie and Maddie were introduced by their parents at a volleyball tournament when they were 13, but their friendship really took off freshman year of high school in Mrs. Andreski’s algebra class – so much so that both sets of parents were informed at conferences that the two girls were talking all through class! By some miracle they both passed on to sophomore year and have been friends ever since.
Groomsman
Matthew is Alex’s oldest cousin, and he, Alex, and Niko shared countless childhood memories together. One highlight is a young Matthew pushing Niko out of a moving golf cart -- luckily, no serious injuries occurred! Today, the trio can be found drinking White Claws and catching a concert (pre-covid, anyway).
Bridesmaid
If you thought there couldn’t be a bigger fan of ND baseball than Maddie, you’d be wrong. Grace was in the stands with Maddie for all the home games (no matter how cold and rainy they were!), and one of the highlights of their senior spring break was Grace and Maddie’s road trip to see Alex and the team play in Florida. Grace is the ultimate Notre Dame “yes man” – count her in for any ND event, any time.
Groomsman
Alex won the roommate lottery when he and Charlie were randomly paired as roommates freshman year at Notre Dame. They remained roommates and close friends all 4 years of college, even though Charlie is a Cubs fan. Charlie will beat you at any board game in existence, but while he’s beating you at least he will serve up a delicious cocktail (just ask Maddie).
Bridesmaid
Megan and Maddie met moments after arriving at Notre Dame in the lobby of Pasquerilla West, where they would share a room for the next four years (and where some of Megan’s tidier habits would eventually reach Maddie’s messy side of the room). These two truly shared every part of their Notre Dame experiences together, from Domerfest, an awkward gathering of freshmen during move-in weekend, to graduation.
Groomsman
Josh and Alex met during orientation week of medical school and have been friends ever since. When they aren’t registering for all the same rotations you can likely find them on a golf course somewhere in the greater Milwaukee area or discussing fantasy football. Josh once proclaimed…”outside of medical school and being married, fantasy football is the most important thing in the world to me” - a true inspiration to Alex.
Bridesmaid
Apparently Sara and Maddie look alike, because throughout college each was mistaken for the other by classmates, professors, their dorm rector, and once even their own dads. For the record, Maddie will be in WHITE on the big day, and Sara in blue. These once dominant intramural volleyball, softball, and flag football athletes can be found in their retirement inhabiting a booth at Panera “just catching up!” for five hours at a time.
Groomsman
Ken is by far the most enthusiastic member of the bridal party! At Notre Dame, Ken pumped Alex up on their walks over to chemistry exams, and won Maddie’s friendship by waving hello as soon as he saw her, even from 50 feet away. We’re hoping to get at least one of his trademark “WOWWW” exclamations on the big day.
Bridesmaid
Sarah and Maddie became best friends in kindergarten, and they’ve done just about everything together. You can mark time by their yearly Brewer game photos together (although, somehow, we’ve lost the ones from the middle school years. Strange.) Despite their time at different schools and in different cities, Maddie and Sarah’s friendship has transitioned smoothly from Miller Park’s nachos and overpriced smoothies to nachos and overpriced beer.
