Many of you have been along for the ride and have shared in the joy of Alex and Maddie’s relationship, which began at some undetermined point over five years ago. Was it when they went to their first Stanford Hall Formal at Notre Dame in the spring of 2015? Was it later that summer, when they attended a wedding together, forcing them to finally define the relationship? Or, was the very beginning even earlier, when they attended high school prom in the same group – with other dates! – but moms Mary Sue and Jennifer spent nearly an hour talking in the parking lot, long after the kids had left for the dance? The next three years at Notre Dame for Alex and Maddie held their share of dorm formals, study days in the basement of the Hesburgh Library, football gamedays, and rich and lasting friendships. When Alex made the baseball team sophomore year, Maddie was at every home game (well ... almost). It was in the small moments that their relationship grew – early morning breakfasts together at North Dining Hall, late afternoon walks around the lakes on campus, trips together to the Grotto, and the many, many nights Maddie brought Alex late night food for a study visit. After graduation, Alex and Maddie made many trips between Milwaukee, where Alex started medical school, and Chicago, where Maddie was in graduate school. Their love for each other and for Chicago’s deep dish pizza continued to grow, but one outweighed the other and Maddie moved back to Milwaukee in 2019. That New Year’s Eve, Alex got down on one knee and asked Maddie to marry him, and of course she said yes! They shared a special dinner before meeting the rest of their families for dessert and champagne, to toast to a new year and a lifetime of celebrating together. _____ We are so grateful to all of you who have shared in our story, and we can't wait to celebrate our marriage with you! Love, Alex & Maddie
