Question

What are the ferry/ transportation details?

Answer

A private charter via Boston Harbor City Cruises will depart from the Long Wharf terminal in Boston and take guests to Thompson Island. Please plan to ARRIVE AND BOARD THE FERRY BY 2:30 PM. The ferry will depart at 2:45PM SHARP! The Long Wharf terminal is located in front of the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel. If you are taking an Uber/Lyft/cab to the ferry, use the Marriott Long Wharf as your drop-off location.

Question

What happens if I miss the ferry to Thompson Island?

Answer

We strongly encourage you to leave yourself PLENTY of time to arrive to the ferry (can we entice you with an open bar ferry?! - okay, done!). For those not staying at local hotels, please allow extra time for Boston traffic and parking, as both can be unpredictable. If you do miss the ferry, don't fret too much, although we will make fun of you once you do arrive (especially if it's mid-ceremony). If you miss, walk to Rowes Wharf (8-minute walk), and call the Boston Water Taxi service. Boston Water Taxi: (617) 261-6620 60 Rowes Wharf. Boston, MA 02110 **Please contact our day-of coordinator, Mary Kate Knight, if you missed the ferry. She can help you problem-solve and figure out the best options for getting to the island! Call or text Mary Kate at (518)-487-9116**

Question

I want to stay overnight on Thompson Island on Saturday! What do I need to know?

Answer

1. Book your reservation at the link below. https://thompsonisland.org/events/weddings/overnight-accommodations Cost: Single - $140; Double - $150, Triple - $160, Quad - $170 **Note: These are DORMITORIES. We have seen them; they are very clean. But know that you are signing up for a) no air conditioning (BUT this is an island with an incredible ocean breeze + fans in the rooms), and b) communal bathrooms. If you do not wish to connect to your inner boy/girl scout, this option may not be for you. But for those who stay, you get to enjoy a Beach Bonfire after party, breakfast on the island the next morning, and actual time to explore the island before heading back to the city Sunday! Follow this link for photos of the accommodations -- family will stay in the Sherbrooke House and Executive Suite. Everyone else will be in the dorms! Bedding and bath towels are included. https://photos.app.goo.gl/TerKvk9Jb2mqk7Y8A 2. Please let Brian and Alessandra know that you are planning to stay overnight. This will help us to arrange the dormitories by friend groups/families. 3. What to Bring: - Either a small overnight bag / your luggage (ideal if you can leave your bigger bags behind, either in your car/with a friend or family member not staying on the island, but whatever works!). Just remember that you will need to bring this on and off the ferry. Staff on the island will help upon arrival. - BYOB - The bar closes at the end of the reception. We will have some booze and food but also feel free to bring your favorite post-wedding dranks and snacks. On Sunday (6/30), the ferry will depart Thompson Island at 11:30am and will arrive to the EDIC dock in South Boston at 12pm. We organized a shuttle to bring guests back to downtown Boston/Long Wharf area, where most people will be parked.

Question

If I don't stay overnight on Thompson Island, how do I get back to the city?

Answer

Ferry transportation will be available at 10:00pm, when the wedding ends. The ferry will return to Long Wharf, where the hotel blocks are located.

Question

What is there to do on Thompson Island?

Answer

-Enjoy beautiful views of Boston skyline and surrounding islands -Play lawn games -Explore/hike the beach and surrounding island -Drink and dance the night away!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

For the welcome party, the dress code is smart casual. For the wedding ceremony and reception, the dress code is cocktail attire. The ceremony will be outdoors and the venue does have a beach, so we suggest that you wear shoes that will be suitable for this environment.
