This ain't our first rodeo. By the time June 29, 2024 rolls around, Brian and Alessandra will be old pros at the whole marriage thing, with ~10 months of marriage under their belts. We officially tied the knot alongside our families on August 12, 2023 at the Caruso family home in Poland, Maine. It was pretty perfect. There was lots of ugly crying because it was so damn special. We couldn't invite ALL of those friends and family we cherish to that ceremony, so we got to thinking. Brian and Alessandra LOVE to host a good party, and Thompson Island is a beautiful, unique venue, so why not do this whole wedding thing again? Please join us as we say, "We do, again" as we renew our vows and dance the night away on June 29th, 2024!
June 29, 2024 is not only our (second) wedding day, but also 1 year to the day Brian proposed, and 5 years to the day Brian and Alessandra first met! Bumble was the curator of our love story. After Alessandra had to reschedule the first date after rear-ending a car (which she successfully fought, BTW), they enjoyed drinks at Downeast Cider and Australian pies at KO Pies in East Boston. After a year together, Alessandra moved to Chicago for a one-year residency, and Brian visited her >10 times. Upon returning to Boston, Alessandra and Brian moved in together and rescued an adorable Border Collie-mix pup named Leo. The rest is history!
On June 29, 2023, Brian took Alessandra to some of their favorite spots. We hiked with Leo at Weir Hill in North Andover and revisited Downeast Cider / Jeffries Point pier. After several "fake" proposals (e.g., Brian tying his shoe and handing over Leo's leash, handing Alessandra AirPods), we ultimately landed at Christopher Columbus Park. This park is special for many reasons. Brian and Alessandra spend ~2 hours here daily with Leo and our dog park family. It is also where Alessandra's parents got engaged. And approximately 45 years later, at the same exact bench where Alessandra's mom said "yes," Brian asked Alessandra the same question. Afterward, Brian hosted a surprise engagement party at Tia's with friends and family waiting! And the Bacon's threw a second engagement party two days later in Connecticut. We definitely felt the love!
*Thompson Island is being renamed to Cathleen Stone Island (following a large donation made by the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation). Please note that you may hear about/read both names -- Thompson Island OR Cathleen Stone Island. Both refer to the same island! Thompson Island (TI) is one of 34 total islands/peninsulas off the coast of Boston Harbor. It is ~170 acres and located 1 mile offshore from downtown Boston. The island is managed by the Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, a non-profit education organization. A percentage of the wedding directly supports Thompson Island Outward Bound’s free youth development programs for Boston Public Schools students, which bridge STEM and field science with Outward Bound’s unique approach to teaching leadership, compassion, and service. Offered at no cost, Outward Bound programs reach thousands of students in Boston each year. You can read more about the island's history on its website: https://thompsonisland.org/about/our-history
