Ask us both, we'll likely tell you a different story -- let's just say, we met at Valparaiso University in the Fall of 2007 -- and fell in love about six years later :)

Taylor was in Chicago working on music for her band Colt & Wylde, and had had a pretty long day. She knew their friend Austin was having a Halloween party, but didn't want to go alone so she checked Facebook to see who else was attending. When she saw Alex's name on the list, she texted him to see if she could go with him. Towards the end of the night, Taylor was ready to call it and head back, but Alex charmed her into staying with the group. He told her the next day, "I knew if I let you go this time, I would never have another chance". About two weeks later, he flew to Orlando to visit her, and they've been together ever since!

On Alex's first cruise that took them to Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico -- Alex planned on taking Taylor back to a spot in Haiti that she had talked about since visiting with her friends a few years before. Upon getting to the spot, Alex pointed out how beautiful the view was, and as Taylor turned around, he got down on his knee -- very quickly -- when she turned back around he was waiting there for her. He asked her to marry him, and she was so stunned it took a few minutes for her to stop saying, "Are you serious?" before finally saying, "Yes!" The rest of that trip was like a dream where they celebrated their engagement every day in a new place, which might be a good preview of the adventure their life together will be!
