Courtney and Cameron met the first week of classes at Ultimate Frisbee practice at SUNY Potsdam in 2014. Cameron was a baby faced freshman and Courtney was the junior recovering from ACL surgery. They were friends for a long time until one day in the summer of 2016 it just clicked. They realized "you're my person". Courtney was in graduate school in New Orleans and Cameron was still at Potsdam. It was challenging but they made it work! Five years, many jobs, a lot of miles, a house, and two cats later they are getting married!
Courtney and Cameron were on vacation in July when one day Cameron went to run errands around town. Courtney didn't think much of it and was enjoying a rare day off when Cameron came back, went upstairs, and came down all dressed up. He said "We are going on a date! Let's go!" Courtney was confused but went to change and put a little makeup on. All the while asking a million questions. "Where are we going? Will we be walking? Do I need to bring a jacket? Is there going to be food? How long is it going to take to get there?" The only Cameron would say was "You'll see when we get there." You can imagine the frustration. Cameron drove out of the city...and then further out of the city...and then, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, appears a farmhouse with a huge red barn behind it. Courtney asked "Whose house is this?" Cameron responds "I don't know." They walk around a corner and up into the barn where there is a beautiful picnic laid out! Two women walked over and yell "Surprise!" One was there to take their pictures and the other had set the whole thing up with Cameron. After Courtney got over the initial shock of being in a barn with a picnic and two strangers they offered to walk along the property before sitting down to our food. As they walked up a hill Cameron grabbed Courtney's hand to stop her, turned her around and bent down to one knee! He asked in a *very* nervous voice "will you marry me?" Courtney responded "WHAT!?" then "Are you serious?" Cameron (still on one knee)said: "Yes! Will you marry me?" Courtney then said, with much enthusiasm, "YES! Of course."
