"Family is not defined by blood". I have to believe that is true, because my parents are the first to come to mind when I say that word, family. I don't know where I'd be today had they not chosen me. I am always going to be greatful knowing they made space in their hearts for me. They often say I taught them a lot, but I think they taught me the most valuable lesson of all; "love is a choice". I saw their ups, their downs, like a sun rising and setting. And, like any good parents, they worried if they did right, if they modeled right. But, that important lesson inspired me to value every soul so much that I'd do anything to see them reach peace, to feel loved and wanted, as they made me feel. I hope I have made them just as proud as they've made me. - Alaina

My Mom and Dad are not only those who raised me and gave so much to keep me safe, but are also my inspiration and strength. Through them I have not only learned to be fearless, for the world always has a path, but they have also given me the ability to master my own psyche. I don’t feel guided quite as much as I feel equipped. Equipped to master myself and the way in which I can interact with the world to hopefully make it better. My relationship with my parents is not complicated, but it is filled with love, laughter, and memories that I would not trade for anything.

My brother, Dallas, has helped me live, laugh, and taught me never to challenge him in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Even though we have a six year age gap, I felt very close to him with how much we had in common. My brother is the most gentle and thoughtful man I believe I’ve ever encountered and ever will. There is no other brother I need when he is all I want. Thinking of him, I picture a Saturday morning where he sits on the floor in front of the couch deciding to play through all of Portal 1 and 2 in to the afternoon. Meanwhile, I wake up and sit on the couch to watch him and talk for the next four to six hours or so. It is because of those memories, because of how much I value them, that Portal is my favorite game to date. - Garrett

She is the brightest ray of sunshine on a summer's day and the stormiest cloud on a winter's night. She loves like no one else and is loyal to a fault. She is honest till it hurts, and generous with her heart. The best kinds of relationships have tears, smiles, laughter, and change; the perspective by which she sees the world and the grip by which she holds her loved ones close. She has taught me what it means to be vulnerable in the face of uncertainty, and how to appreciate the ugliest parts about myself. The way she smiles could make anyone melt inside, like a princess out of a fairytale. If love and emotion were captured in green jems, they would most certainly be her eyes. - Alaina

Every man tries to be brave. They try to find courage for the sake of others. When I met him, those qualities were already there, but the better one was his heart. It is rare to find a man that feels the pain of others; one that goes out of his way to understand the perspectives of others even when he doesn't need to. I believe he knows best what it means to walk as a soldier of Spirit; and as gentle as he may be, lions would follow a heart like his, for it is humble in the face of emence pride. - Alaina

"We must be willing to pay a price for freedom" is a thought she has never had twice, as any price would've worth it. Much like a horse begining to gallop at the sight of a field without ever being told what he ought to do, she runs through life without ever looking back or wondering what society is says in the distance. It is souls like these that stay young and inspired until their body no longer keeps up with them. I imagine hers looks something like a fire that glows large enough for everyone to see and gently nipps at those who touch it but are too afraid to dive in, too afraid to pay the price of being untethered and fragile to stagnency. - Alaina

"It is not often we find souls who actively seek to do good without considering their own costs." Franco has one of the most generous spirits I've met and he is someone who has supported me until the very end. Despite times of struggle, he's always found a way to fill our days with laughter and positivity. He uses logic to bring out optimism in those around him and encourages them to celebrate uncertainty. He welcomes new possibilities and has taught me to do the same. - Garrett

He's been my life long friend and influence. Some of my eariest memories include recording rap videos meant to tease his brother, laughing on a daily, and many of the things only brothers would do. We may not be blood but we are family, and I can't wait to see where that takes us. Jacob has aided in my walk of faith and done his best to keep me on the right path. He has never left me to journey it alone and as we grew together, shown me how to see the world from a view that was once brighter than my own.

There are those of us who challege the norms, who aren't afraid to ask the questions everyone else seems to ignore. I see this in Dawson as he is one of the best workout partners I’ve ever had and the spark of inspiration I needed. He pushes me to work harder, to challege myself, and allow myself to dream big. Dawson isn’t afraid to push the limits and fight for what he believes in. He lends an open ear to those who struggle, always encouraging their growth. Determined still, he happily shakes hands with his opposite. - Garrett

When the mouth speaks it is often difficult for the ear to listen. Maybe it's because Issac is often quite that he always seems to hear the smallest voice in the room. So long as he is there, no one is ever forgotten. He is the type of person to reach their hand into the darkness and pull you out of it simply because he knew you were there. He holds everyone together and takes each person along for the journey. His actions often come with intelligent reasoning and careful planning, despite his essentric and charismatic personality. It makes him incredibly easy to follow into an adventure even without knowing the slightest thing about it. - Garrett

I have been told that laughter is the cheapest medicine. If that is true, then Chris may as well start charging, because he is the funniest person I know. Maybe that's what made it so easy as he became one of my greatest friends. His generousity shows through his actions rather than his words and he often puts the needs of others before his own. Perhaps the best part of Chris is his humilty. It takes a truly humble man to be steady in his values and hold them close, while still remaining open to what the world has to teach him. - Garrett

There were moments in my childhood that made me who I am. The stories I came up with, the mistakes I made, the new parts of life I'd never seen before, etc. Michael taught me to dive into those things no matter how omminous or difficult. He encouraged the challege because he knew I would succeed, even when I thought I'd fail. For that reason, I knew if he had my back, I could do anything. He made me believe I could do anything. I think thats why Zelda is my favorite game even still, because I see my older brother battling monsters and thinking how truly brave, strong, and adventurous he was. I wanted to follow in those footsteps. He was my Link; it's because of him that I am able to reach for my dreams. There may be many miles between us now, but he will always be my childhood hero. The person who encouraged me to embrace the world with curiosity and love it without fear. Thank you for being my hero for so long, I promise I've found another just like you. - Alaina

Of all the people I've been graced with in my life, my big sister is my role model. Kara's heart goes uncontested in love and bravery. She has taught me how to truly be myself no matter where I am. She instilled that confidence in me. I still think about us sitting on my bedroom floor playing "Nintendo City" with a plethra of nintendo plushies and other similar stuffed animals gathered around us. I remember the characters we played as; being who we wanted to be in that moment and simply enjoying each other's company. Kara gave me some of my happiest childhood memories and she let me be me. I won't forget that.
