- Thailand is very cash driven, a lot of places don’t take cards. Also a lot of spots don’t take Amex. Recommend taking a few hundred dollars in baht out at the airport - January is high season, so recommend booking flights & accommodations quickly - There's a lot of coral underfoot when you wade out into the ocean water so we recommend bringing water shoes - If you are not staying at Rayavadee, try and avoid your room being on the East Railay Bay side of the island (it's busy with boat traffic)
We are getting married on Saturday, January 13th, and recommending guests arriving to Bangkok by Monday January 8th and Rayavadee by Tuesday January 9th. That way you have plenty of time to recover from the trip over, get used to the 12 hour time-zone difference, and can participate in the wedding activities we have planned! Check out the Schedule tab to see officially planned wedding activities (make sure to RSVP for them on the RSVP tab) then look at the Things to Do tab to see all other activities.
We specifically picked January since it's one of the least humid & wet months. Granted it's still Thailand, so expect some rain, but not super muggy. Krabi in January averages highs of 90 and lows of 70.
Our wedding theme is Tropical (of course!) and we're going for semi-formal. For men, it's suits (tie-optional), for women, we encourage you to wear a vibrant, colorful dress that you feel beautiful in. If you are staying at Rayavadee, you also have the option for an outfit change, if you wanted to bring one dress for the ceremony and another for the party!
If your invite didn't name a +1, then we likely won't be able to accommodate given capacity constraints. Venues are much smaller in Thailand than the US, so we are having to keep headcount tight.
Reach out to Adelle if you are interested in sharing a room with someone and she will work to pair you up!
Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, bathing suits, cash, warm weather clothes, water shoes to more easily walk in the water
If you like the looks of any of the activities listed on the To Do page of our website, visit Rayavadee's website (https://www.rayavadee.com/en/activities.php) to download their activities brochure. Email reservation@rayavadee.com to arrange for any activities that are not part of the official wedding schedule. If you want to join one of the official wedding activities (Phi Phi Island Excursion or Catamaran Sunset Cruise) go to the RSVP section on the site and just RSVP and we'll arrange.
Not historically, but it seems to be a bit more common place now. Suggested 10%. Most restaurants included 10% service charge in the bill so you don’t need to put anything.
It doesn't hurt to have one, but most hotels in Thailand have American compatible outlets (Type A = two flat prong plug). Standard voltage is 220 V and frequency is 50 Hz though if your electronic device doesn't have a voltage converter (US is 120 volts) that would be good to have (most computers / cell phones have one built-in).
Yes, Rayavadee is situated amongst a jungle so the hotel will provide you with mosquito repellent. Did you know you can also eat certain foods to repel mosquitos? Beans & lentils, tomatoes, grapefruit, chili peppers, lemongrass, apple cider vinegar, onions & garlic.
