These are some great places to visit while you're in town
Washington's Headquarters Museum

Washington's Headquarters Museum

30 Washington Place, Morristown, NJ 07960

Morristown National Historical Park is nationally significant as the site of the 1779-80 winter encampment of the Continental Army under General George Washington. Few places evoke the spirit of patriotism and independence, represent individual and collective sacrifice, or demonstrate the resolve, tenacity and determination of the people of the United States to be free as does Morristown. The historic landscapes, structures, objects, and archeological and natural resources at Morristown are tangible links to one of the most defining events in our nation's history. Here the Continental Army under Washington's leadership emerged as a cohesive and disciplined fighting force. The Morristown experience is fundamental to both American history, and remains a source of inspiration for Americans and the world.

The Raptor Trust

The Raptor Trust

1390 White Bridge Road, Long Hill, NJ 07946
, 908-647-1091

The Raptor Trust is a result of one man’s long-time interest in nature and, particularly, birds of prey. Len Soucy first became interested in hawks after a visit to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton, Pennsylvania, in the fall of 1964. From that time on he had a passionate concern for the well-being of raptors. His concern was well founded, for prior to the passage of the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act in 1972, there was no legal protection for hawks and owls. In the ecological “dark ages,” raptors (and most other predators) were viewed as vermin, bad and vicious killers, and they were regularly destroyed with impunity. Many states, including New Jersey, actually placed bounties on some birds of prey. And although there were many raptor advocates like Soucy, there were precious few people, and almost no facilities, that provided care to injured and orphaned predatory birds. In 1968 Soucy bought a home on 14 acres of property in Millington, N.J.

Glenbrook Brewery is located in the heart of Morris County, New Jersey. The county is rich in American Revolutionary War history, and was the winter encampment of General George Washington and the Continental Army. After victories at the Battle of Trenton and Battle of Princeton, they set up camp at Jockey Hollow. The Army stayed there during the winter of 1777, as well as the extremely cold fall and winter of 1779–80. General Washington had his headquarters during that first encampment at Jacob Arnold's Tavern. The tavern was located in the center of Morristown, an area known as the “Green.” It was a place where many pints flowed. Colonial Ale, our signature beer, is made with the finest ingredients & artisan craftsmanship by our award winning Head Brewer.
