On the second date, Caitlin and Addison decided to meet for lunch and take a walk-through Lambertville, NJ (A.KA. New Hope, PA), but Caitlin had different directions. As some of you know Caitlin is Fantastic with navigating and decided to go to Brooklyn instead! Caitlin had called Addison 30 minutes before the date was scheduled to start, and stated that she was on her way, she was just getting on the turnpike. Addison thought this was a strange way to get from Morris Plains to Lambertville, but since this was new, he thought it was only right not to say anything. Almost an hour later, Caitlin realized that she was going the wrong way and found her way back to Lambertville. Addison was still very happy to see her. Caitlin knew right at that moment he was kind-hearted and patient. Addison learned very quickly that when Caitlin takes the wheel, he needs to point in which direction they need to go or else we might end up in Brooklyn again.
Addison's brother Johnathan Hinrichs and his husband Mikey Arnold had just moved into their first home. Addison had just repainted his apartment and had a leftover 5-gallon bucket of paint and wanted to give it to them so they could touch up their house. Addison thought that the container was sealed tight, but fate intervened and through the course of the 45-minute trip, the paint bucket tipped over and started pouring out all over the trunk of Caitlin's precious Honda Civic. When they got there they didn't immediately empty the car. They went in to take a tour of the house and take a quick dip in the pool. Towards the end of the evening, they remembered all of the stuff that was in the car and when they went out to get it. They realized that Caitlin's black trunk had completely turned white with paint. Addison braced for what was deservedly a very angry Caitlin but was very surprised when she understood it was a mistake and rolled up her sleeves and started to remove the paint. It took a day of cleaning and a trip to the detailing shop to turn the white trunk back to black. At that point, Addison knew that he had fallen in love with this patient and understanding woman.
