FAQs

Question

Why is the wedding ceremony different than what I would normally attend?

Answer

Abigail and Luke have recently converted to the Russian Orthodox Church, and the traditional marriage ceremony looks a little different than what you may be expecting. This ceremony can take between 30 to 45 minutes. As much as we enjoy seeing people put a little spin on the traditional American ceremony we are not going to be changing anything but there will be time for speeches or congratulations after during the reception. You will be given a program the day of that will lay out the liturgy that the priest is preforming.

Question

What about the reception?

Answer

Nothing out of the ordinary is going to be happening at the reception. Church traditions don’t have anything to say about the event so we are happy to welcome you to a good old American reception complete with dancing, food and fun. However due to the venue’s restrictions and personal preference alcohol will not be permitted during the reception so please do not bring any.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by April 19th.

Question

What if I can’t make it?

Answer

Luke and Abigail put a lot of time into the guest list and would like everyone to be able to attend, however if due to unforeseen circumstances you are not able to attend we would love to make it up to you so please just reach out and we will find a way to help you feel included.

Question

What about kids?

Answer

Abigail and Luke are super excited to see the whole family so please bring your kids!

Question

Why is the wedding in Knoxville?

Answer

Luke and most of his close family have been living in Knoxville of or a few years and Abigail has just recently moved to Tennessee so to make wedding planning easier the decision was made to host the wedding in Knoxville.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Abigail has selected an earth toned palette that consists of greens, browns and pinks as well as tan. Wearing florals and traditional spring colors is also appropriate. We encourage guests to dress in this palette for more cohesive photos. Some of the event will be outside so dress accordingly for the spring weather. Women might want to consider wearing low heels because you will be standing for the ceremony. If you are a guest of the Orthodox Church you will not be expected to wear a traditional head covering but if you would like to wear a head covering you may.

Question

Where should I go to Sunday Morning Church?

Answer

For our friends and family that are visiting from out of town, we would love it if you attended church on Sunday morning and we have a few choices for you. If you would prefer to attend a non-denominational service, Two Rivers Churches is a great place to visit on Sunday morning. Please visit their website https://2rc.tv for times and locations. If you would like to visit the Orthodox Church, you are welcome to visit. Divine Liturgy starts at 10am and this is where Luke and Abigail will be attending. Saint Nektarios Russian Orthodox Church 11525 SR-321 N Lenoir City, TN 37771 Of course there is no pressure to attend any morning services and if you would like suggestions for any other services please let us know!

Question

Is there a wedding party?

Answer

Not really, Luke and Abigail have many close friends but we will not be selecting a wedding party.

Question

Are you registered?

Answer

Yes. We have chosen to register on Amazon for convenience. There will also be a card and gift table at the reception. We prefer that guests stick to the registry but we do have a great appreciation for items that are handcrafted or vintage. You can look at the registry tab on this website or visit: https://www.amazon.com/wedding/share/abigailandlukebubar
