Theirs is a love story that shifts grand perspectives and erodes all of what we know. The type of unity that confounds and excites and confirms that great mysteries of the universe abound... Growing up on opposite sides of the country, Abby and Colin met in the middle while working at Grand Teton National Park in 2005. Fresh out of high school, the pair served as utterly irrelevant lifeguards at the park’s small, cold, and scummy swimming pool, leaving ample time to chat and laugh and form something unforgettable. Never disparate entities again, Abby and Colin instead moved forward from that summer like the double strands of DNA. Each representing one-half the whole, their paths crisscrossed at periodic intervals over the course of the next decade-plus, only to arc away from one another (sometimes for years at a time), before being drawn back – not together but never apart. Abby would later describe their bond as “sticky” and, after a particularly long absence where both had just about given up hope, work took Colin on a drive from Alaska to the east coast – ending mere miles from where Abby was working. The universe once again begging them to listen and, this time, they did. Their first year was bright, blurry, and full of confounding headscratchers about how bigger things had stepped in to create this beautiful synthesis, before Colin and Abby simply settled on the fact that this type of love is rare, intense, hard-fought, and uniquely theirs and that, perhaps, they should just let the mystery be. And so they have... except for the random small moments where they’re wowed to wonder aloud, “I can’t believe it’s you. How can that be?” We can’t wait to celebrate the magical mystery that we are lucky enough to experience every day. A love that, as we like to say, is better felt than explained.
