We have spent many weekends driving along the Columbia River Gorge and chasing all of the waterfalls. We highly recommend driving along the scenic Columbia River highway and exploring the following spots: 1. Multnomah Falls 2. Latourell Falls 3. Bridal Veil Falls 4. Portland Women’s Forum State Scenic Viewpoint Our favorite Gorge hikes: 1. Fairy Falls Loop Hike (3.4 miles, 1495 ft. elevation) - can also be done as a shorter out and back hike 2. Eagle Creek to Punchbowl Falls (4.8 miles, 1020 ft elevation) 3. Latourell Falls Loop (2.4 miles, 620 ft. elevation) 4. Wahkeena Falls Loop (5.1 miles, 1,640 ft. elevation) - hike to multiple waterfalls including the top of Multnomah Falls with sweeping views of the Gorge 5. Coyote Wall (6.3 miles, 1,765 ft. elevation) - challenging, exposed hike with incredible views of Mount Hood on a clear day
Mount Hood is about 45 minutes from Hood River and well worth the drive. Coming from Hood River, you'll drive through the Fruit Loop, a 35-mile loop of farmland between Hood River and Mt. Hood with countless beautiful farms and vineyards to explore. Alternatively, Mount Hood is accessible from Portland, with great food and hiking along the way. We recommend driving up to the historic Timberline Lodge and taking in all the views or hanging out at Trillium Lake to paddle board, kayak, or relax by the lake. Some of our favorite hikes near Mount Hood are: 1. Tamanawas Falls (3.4 miles, 580 ft. elevation) 2. Tom, Dick and Harry (7.7 Miles, 1,460 ft. elevation) 3. Umbrella Falls (4.4 miles, 925 ft. elevation)
There's nothing better than a cold beer after a hike. Let's face it, there's nothing better than a cold beer. Period. Hood River is home to some of our favorite breweries: 1. Pfriem Family Brewers (our all-around favorite) 2. Full Sail Brewery (Famous for their Session Beers. Sit on the patio and order the salmon fish and chips, you'll thank us later) 3. Ferment Brewing Co. (join us for our welcome drinks here) 4. Everybody's Brewing (cross the bridge and head into White Salmon for this spot with incredible views) 5. Double Mountain Brewing (for the IPA lover + great pizza)

Before you head home, we hope you can come in early or extend the weekend to spend some time in the city of roses - and beer, and coffee, and outstanding food. Whether you want to stay in the city, go to wine country, or head to the Oregon coast, check out the link with our favorite places.
