Maid of Honor
Nichole and Tanya met the summer of 1998 at Gymagic Gymnastics. Nichole was new to Sacramento and was in the same group as Tanya. Nichole had a chopped up Snickers bar for her practice snack and Tanya fell in love.
Bridesmaid
Christine and Tanya met in first grade and grew up in the same neighborhood. Tanya went with Christine to gymnastics practice one day and never looked back. Christine and her family moved to Washington when they were 10 and the two girls were separated. They wrote letters to each other and later ended up as college teammates at UC Davis. Their parents continue to be residents of Camden Passage.
Bridesmaid
Carolyn and Tanya met on Tanya's official visit to UC Davis. They became teammates the following year and roommates a few years later. They both went into college coaching, although only at the same school for two years.
Best Man
One of my college buddies, though we actually didn’t overlap by much. We had mutual friends and our activities kept us in the same circle, whether it was soccer, softball, hoop, trampball, or BBQs on the roof of the Rec Hall. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we would be lifelong friends. He was the originator of our Sea Ranch trips, which included everything from ultimate frisbee on the beach, golf, strolls along the bluffs at sunset, and 2a games of hide & seek, all of which became core memories. Years of friendship in, I was a groomsman at his wedding and I became godfather to his daughter. Dennis is the glue that keeps the college friends connected. He’s the first to reach out and make sure he knows what’s going on with everybody. If there’s an example of how to do things right, Dennis is certainly the mold.
Groomsman
I’ve known this tool since our time working at the Rec Hall at Davis. I had never met a math major so terrible at math; it took him half an hour to close out a till, a ten-minute task for everyone else. Shared shifts led to pick up basketball games which led to too many remembered and forgotten shenanigans to count, thanks to our traditional Jaeger shot to start the evening. Years later, I introduced him to his wife and was best man at his wedding. Though he’s older, greyer, and wears reading glasses around his neck, he’s still the same guy I met 28 years ago… long-ass eyelashes, great sense of humor, and gets along with everybody. He’s one of those friends that no matter how long it’s been, you pick up right where you left off. I’m very luck to count him as a friend.
Groomsman
While I’ve not known Mike for nearly as long as the other two groomsmen, over 10 years is certainly nothing to sneeze at. What started as a property manager/ tenant relationship quickly grew to a genuine friendship. Parking lot BBQs and beer pong were regular activities as were Sunday breakfasts in our cramped kitchens, and yelling at each other across the courtyard playing Xbox. He was the Goose to my Maverick when we crossed paths with a bachelorette party and serenaded them at a restaurant bar. Mike, to put it simply, is a good dude. He’s quite the smart ass, which is why we instantly connected. But when it comes down to it, there’s a genuineness to his character and a huge heart.
