About this venue

The Sugar Barn is located on a 45-acre Ranch in Lake Wales, in Central Florida’s Polk County. The Whidden’s purchased the ranch in 2005 and have been developing the perfect location for your barn wedding, celebration, or corporate event. This unique venue is not an old converted barn but a beautiful new Montana Red Spruce structure with the warmth and character of a rustic setting, but with all the commercial amenities you need for a successful, comfortable, and elegant event. The barn has been built with soaring 45-foot ceilings and a stone fireplace, beautiful crystal chandeliers, a catering kitchen, and an oversized, 1200 sq ft bridal suite. Your guests will walk along the 120-foot bridge, across the stocked pond, to the Wild Orange ceremony location, which also features a restroom facility and a bachelor’s cottage. The orchard next to the barn grows sugar cane, thus lending to the name The Sugar Barn.

Creating The Magic

The Sugar Barn sits on a 45-acre ranch along with its spring-fed, stocked pond, ceremony grove and bachelors cottage, complimented by beautiful lighted, open spaces. Along the south side of the venue, you will see a field of sugar cane, hence the name “The Sugar Barn”. The space can accommodate up to 290 guests and is lit by seven crystal chandeliers. A 45′ stone fireplace compliments the central 8′ crystal chandelier, which adds beauty and elegance to the rustic feel.

• Bridal White seating set in place for up to 300, along with a wooden altar platform. • Choice of backdrop, including a wooden cross or hexagon. You are also welcome to bring your own. • Seating inside for up to 250 guests using our handcrafted farmhouse tables and rustic cross-back chairs. (Additional seating available) • Gift and memory table, dessert table, plus a high-top cake table. • Air conditioned grooms cabin, featuring a lounge area, foosball table, dressing amenities, mini fridge, and a porch with rocking chairs. • Large handcrafted bar with dimmable lighting. • Greenery wall and whisky barrels for “on trend” photo location. • ADA-approved restrooms with multiple stalls, tastefully finished. • Use of our 65″ monitors during the reception for your smart device to link to show photos or videos. • Elevator for handicapped access to the bridal suite. • Large lighted parking area with dedicated, paved, handicapped spaces and parking attendant.

Wild Orange – The Outdoor Ceremony

You will love celebrating your special day under the moss-covered oaks here at The Sugar Barn.

Wild Orange, where two come together as one. This lush outdoor space surrounded by giant oaks with Spanish moss, is the perfect setting for the wedding of your dreams. With large wooden gates at the entrance, your guests will be amazed as they walk in and see the beauty of this intimate and magical place. After your guest are all seated, the gates will be closed awaiting your grand entrance and walk down the aisle.

Sugar Barn Courtyard

Creating Your Fantasy Wedding

On the East side of the Sugar Barn, we enter a 3200 sq. ft. outdoor entertainment area with market lights, a backdrop of the stone fireplace, views of the sugar cane field, and the natural “Old Florida” landscape. The beauty of the Spanish moss-covered oaks creates a soft and relaxing backdrop that can be used for a cocktail hour after your ceremony and before the wedding dinner event.

The Sugar Bridal “Sweet”

A room filled with natural light for photos.

Upstairs you will find the 1200 sq ft Bridal “Sweet,” where you and your bridesmaids can spend the day getting ready for the ceremony, taking photos, having a meal together at a full dining room table, and creating memories. The “Sweet” is complimented with a full bathroom with a shower, refrigerator, Kureg, full-length mirrors, an 8′ makeup counter, and an antique settee for photos.

The Sugar Shack

We're so happy you're here!

Down the path from the ceremonial grove, you will find the Sugar Shack bachelor’s cottage. This secluded space is where the groomsmen can gather before the ceremony, get dressed, play cards, have lunch and other activities before the wedding. The cottage is air-conditioned and nicely appointed for the guys to relax, prepare, and make memories that will last a lifetime. The Sugar Shack has a refrigerator to keep drinks cold and the boutonnieres fresh, with rocking chairs on the porch. A full bathroom and shower are located directly next to the cottage.
