Welcome to The Rafters at Historic St. Mark's, the venue with a Mission! Modern elegance meets 1800s charm, all in service to our community. When you host your event with us, you contribute to our Flyin Lion Ministry, a culinary school for adults with exceptional needs. Our campus sits just 15 min from Uptown Charlotte, yet is tucked away into 14 secluded acres of century old trees. With separate getting ready suites, historic church, & gorgeous reception hall, The Rafters can accommodate your special day without you or your guests needing to travel elsewhere. Crafted with southern charm & offering modern amenities, our exposed beam Rafters wraps you & your guests in the grandeur & beauty befitting the occasion. When you book The Rafters, the campus is exclusively yours for the duration of your event. We have packages to suit most needs, & even have in-house catering for your convenience. The Rafters is a beautiful open beam venue surrounded by windows to let all the natural light of our tree lined campus in. 7,000 square feet allow for up to 250 guests to be seated for dinner, while still leaving space for a dance floor. Outdoor space is abundant on our 13 acres of wooded land, while free, paved parking is ample & available for your guests. A full commercial kitchen is attached, whether you bring your own caterer or decide to use our in house team. All are welcome in this place.

Beautiful views of the church & campus await on the sweeping front porch while you and your bridal party get ready just steps from The Rafters.

The Parish House sits directly across the parking lot from the main Rafters venue. Located on the Historic Register and once used as the parsonage home for the St. Mark's priest, the Parish House is a delightfully quaint 2-story house with a large front porch where our brides and bridal parties have private space to get ready and spend time prior to the wedding. Large rooms are flooded with natural light which make for romantic and unique photos.

Lounge Suite

The perfect spot to get ready and relax before the wedding.

This space is a great place for the groom and party to hang out, relax, and get ready before the wedding. It's set up like a den and game room with couches, recliner, TV, bar height table and barstools, lounge chairs, poker, darts, chess, corn hole, foos ball, mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig. There's a nice back yard area as well for some outdoor hanging out.

St. Mark's Historic Church

Welcome to St. Mark's, "the little church on the hill!" Our beautiful chapel sits steps away from the ready suites and Rafters venue.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church stands as a monument to the importance placed on the wedding ceremony. Built in 1886 and listed on the historic register, the church has stood as a beacon of inclusion for over 130 years. The concept of “All are Welcome” is woven into the very foundation of the building and the community. When the heavy wooden door opens, you are swept back into a simpler time, and one of peace and love.

      First, it’s beautiful. We did our ceremony at a Catholic church down the street and had our reception at the Rafters, but my favorite photos are by far the ones we took in front of the St Mark’s chapel- it’s so romantic! As a reception venue, it is very reasonably priced, and has everything you could need. We got ready in the adorable carriage house, and we also did my bridal shoot there a few weeks before the wedding- they turned out beautifully. Also, if you book with their caterer (The Flyin’ Lions), you get a discount AND support a good cause! But that’s not even the best part: their food is AMAZING. I am literally still dreaming about the salmon and mashed potatoes from my wedding day, and so many guests told me how much they loved the food. The taste testing was fun too, they have a ton of options! Also, Allison is the best coordinator EVER. You will love working with her, and every vendor I hired that had worked with her before told me the same thing! She is so personable and really gets to know you, and she will bend over backwards to help you with whatever you need. She is fantastic with communication; her responsiveness and helpfulness alone reduced my wedding planning stress. I also loved the preferred vendor list Allison provided; it made it a lot easier to narrow down our vendor choices! Allison and Debbie (from Flyin’ Lions) made our wedding and all the months leading up to it so special and wonderful; we cannot recommend them enough!
