Located right outside of downtown Raleigh, you will find The Historic Wakefield Barn. Built in 1934 and renovated in 2017, the barn is a luxury wedding venue in North Raleigh unmatched in its scale and charm. This is the perfect barn wedding venue that can accommodate events large and small! The Historic Wakefield Barn is a National Historic Site that sits on 14 acres – the property includes a bridal suite, horse barn, the main barn and outdoor event spaces. The venue combines the barn’s history with subtle modern touches that result in a unique event space. The property is still an active horse farm, with two horses who live on-site named Mandatory, and Jackson!

Our event spaces

Main Hall

Our Main Hall is the primary space for our wedding parties. Located on the upper level of our Barn, the hall is a unique space for every party.

Built in 1934 and renovated in 2017, the Main Hall is adorned with 12 chandeliers, and 32 ft. ceilings. In total the hall has over 6,000 square feet, and is uses as both a ceremony and reception space. Additionally, bathrooms, two catering prep-rooms and a our Mezzanine are located on this floor.

The Historic Wakefield Barn was the perfect venue for our wedding day. Their communication throughout the planning process was outstanding - Brent was so helpful and responsive, making the entire experience stress-free. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, with a unique vintage and classy feel that exceeded our expectations. They went above and beyond to make our day special, providing a beautiful custom "Savannah" hanger when we booked the venue and even arranging for horses to be part of our celebration. When it rained right after our ceremony, we were so grateful for the indoor/outdoor capabilities - the team had a seamless rain plan that allowed us to enjoy the rest of the evening indoors. I highly recommend The Historic Wakefield Barn to any couple looking for a stunning, versatile wedding venue.

The Historic Wakefield Barn is truly breath taking from the moment you step foot on the property. It can handle large weddings or small intimate gatherings and I can't decide if I love the outdoors with beautiful views and horses, or the inside barn which ISN'T your typical barn. It's expansive, all white and offers natural light from the windows up top all while wowing your guests. The cocktail area is perfect, bridal suite is great, and it really has everything you need for a luxurious wedding day right in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina!
