Hi! I'm Kayla, owner and lead photographer at Kayla Rice Photography. I’m a Boston based documentary wedding photographer. I am a trained photojournalist who discovered a passion for capturing love in all its forms. I started my business with the goal of creating an experience for those who might be looking for something more authentic and unposed.

Photographing weddings is a dream job for me. It allows me to flex my strength in narrative, journalistic photography by telling the story of your wedding day from the margins without becoming a character in that story. I started my business with the goal of creating an experience for those who might be looking for something more authentic and unposed. I value creating honest, candid images that reflect the truth, emotion, & importance of your relationships and love. I believe it’s an honor to capture these intimate moments and truly appreciate the trust and openness given to me to allow me to do what I do.

    We hired Kayla Rice Photography as our wedding photographer and we are so happy we did, her work is outstanding. Kayla has a journalistic style of photography so she captures those special moments, peoples expressions and their reactions. The photos from that day show the love and emotions of me, my husband and our family and close friends. Kayla is very kind and polite and has a very calming, professional way about her work on what can be a stressful day for some couples. And she put us to ease as we are not typically comfortable in front of a camera.The photos are fantastic and looking at them Kayla captured the love and happiness shared by all in attendance. We highly recommend Kayla Rice Photography!

    Kayla was absolutely incredible to work with. Her ability to find the special little moments is incredible. We were both nervous about being in front of a camera and Kayla quickly put us at ease. She was extremely professional and organized in the time leading up to our wedding. For the wedding, she brought a second shooter, Josh Kuckens, to capture everything from multiple angles. She was wonderful to work with and extremely knowledgeable. Even in the hectic moments of the wedding day, she was calm, collected, and got every combination of people that we requested! Her pricing was reasonable and was worth every single penny. Many of the moments she captured brought us to tears. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, Kayla is the one!

    Kayla was the photographer at our wedding in December of 2018 and we trusted her to be the sole professional source of visual documentation since we opted to forgo a videographer, etc. I was familiar with Kayla's abilities in multiple disciplines as well as her previous work at social events like ours. It was obvious that she possesses a true gift for both standard and unique photographic approaches. Beyond the artistic talent, Kayla has the ideal personality for personal and meaningful lifetime events. She listens and remembers every detail, reads a room and crowd skillfully, and puts herself in almost unnoticeable positions while ensuring that she gets every shot from every angle. For us, with a very small wedding venue that had some unusual layout features, Kayla adapted and used the space to her advantage in a way that demonstrated her substantial ability to be in just the right place at just the right time. She was also a zero-stress and calming presence on what is unavoidably a stressful (and wonderful!) day for a bride and groom - she communicated her few informational needs clearly and worked perfectly with our day-of wedding planner. What sticks out most is her work during the wedding ceremony itself. In a small and very non-traditional space, she found all the right angles with some VERY creative positioning while remaining completely hidden from all in attendance. Her natural and developed skill was obvious throughout the night. Her subsequent work on our beautiful photo album only cemented our complete and total satisfaction with her work on every level. We simply can't imagine a more positive overall experience. She is an artist and a professional in equal measures and would be a massive asset to an event of any size or type.
