I love my job. For me, it’s kind of two-fold. One amazing part of the job is knowing that you are part of a couple’s most memorable day of their life—and assuming it goes well, they will remember you for it for the rest of their life. The other part is that I get to run a business and listen to music—two of my deepest passions. So running a DJ company mashes it all together in one great package.
When creating my business plan for Stumptown DJs, I made sure that everything we did as a company solved an existing problem in our industry. This helped us find the perfect niche in the Portland DJ market. Stumptown DJs is an affordable, professional and talented DJ service that’s simple, flexible and fun for everyone. And that sets us apart from others in our field.

This is more of a DIY DJ Package in terms of planning. On the day of, it's entirely different. You'll get access to our custom online timeline to organize your wedding day & access to our online music database to create your very own playlists. No charge for setup or teardown, No Travel Fee for Portland Metro Area, DJ will MC entire event. DJ will bring 2 handheld microphones (1 wired, 1 wireless) If we’re providing sound for your ceremony, 1 lapel microphone included at no additional charge.
- DJ has at least 1 year of wedding experience.
- Majority of interaction with Stumptown DJs admin
- Two scheduled phone calls
- First setup INCLUDED in package
- (Additional setups are $250 each)
- Additional time is $225 per hour
Tier 1+ (4 hours)

DIY DJ Package in terms of planning, but these DJs have been working for us for over 10 years. You'll get access to our custom online timeline to organize your wedding day & access to our online music database to create your very own playlists. DJ Katie is a star!!
Stumptown was so easy to work with from the beginning and we selected DJ Katie as she seemed to really fit our vibe. As soon as we met her, we knew it was the right choice. She understood us and our intention for a cliche-free wedding perfectly. She took our playlist and built on it seamlessly, creating her own mashups (including such gems as 50 Cent/Toto and Black Sabbath/Ludacris!!). Everyone was dancing and raving about her, we didn't want the dance party to end! She was also incredibly organized, an amazing emcee and just overall delightful to work with. We need to throw another party ASAP so we can hire hire again!!

We had a wonderful time working with Jai at our wedding August 2024! We met with Jai multiple times over Zoom and in-person to discuss what we wanted for our day. He helped us through Stumptown's online portal which helped us outline what songs we wanted, what we wanted Jai to say and when in order to make the day go smoothly. We gave Jai a "vibe" that we wanted throughout the day and let him run with it. He did an amazing job curating a playlist and reading the crowd. The day of our wedding, Jai was professional and efficient setting up his equipment at the venue. Sound and music worked perfectly at the ceremony, reception and on the dance floor! We are especially grateful and appreciative of him helping out my brother (officiant) and father before their speeches. Making them comfortable and made sure they knew what to do with their microphones. Overall, DJ Jai was a wonderful pick as our DJ as he seamlessly ran the ceremony through end of the dance floor and created a fun environment.

We hired DJ Jai for our wedding this past summer and he was the absolute BEST!!! We weren't sure we "needed" a DJ, but it ended up being one of the most important roles in the whole day. We met ahead of time, got to know him, got a list of music together for him and he pretty much took it from there (with our input, of course). He put together all our ceremony music, announced important directions and timing for the attendees, coordinated dinner and dancing music, released tables for dinner, wrangled all our toasts (and made sure they didn't last tooooooo long), and was a pleasure to have at our big day. Working with Stumptown DJs was also super easy. They make it a breeze to see what everything will cost, and take care of payments online, and answered all our questions. Do yourselves a favor and invest in a good DJ (Jai!!).
