From classical cello to alternative, funky, beatbox cello grooves to DJing a dance party, Cello Joe can perform for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and dance parties.
I bring a lot of energy to my DJ work. I work with the couple to curate their favorite songs for dancing: both fast and slow partner dances. I can bring as much or as little hype on the mic as the couple wants. I generally like to stay off the mic for my personal style and let the music and mixing speak for itself. As far as what sets me apart, I am extremely punctual and arrive as early as possible for setup. In all the years I have been doing weddings, I have never been late to a wedding! I have a professional lighting package.

The most fun!
My husband and I got married this past August and I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while but we had a big move and time got away from us. As a wedding vendor myself I know how important it is to have a DJ that can balance fun and professionalism, but Joey Chang did just that. He was punctual, detail oriented, and our guest couldn’t stop talking about how good he was, both as a musician and as a DJ. I really appreciated the time and effort he took to insure that no details were missed. We booked a lighting package as well and our ceremony space looked even better than I could have imagined. Joey made sure the ceremony audio was perfect. Everyone could hear the whole ceremony which was really important to us. And when he played cello for our processional and recessional, the sound really filled the space and sounded beautiful. During our cocktail hour he played cello and did some beatboxing, we were so impressed and our guests loved it as well, they were talking about how good he was and how they could hardly believe it was live music. After dinner the dance floor was full the whole night. Even months later we still have people telling us how much fun they had dancing, how great our playlist was, and how much they liked our DJ. If you want your wedding to be classy, romantic, a total rager, and go off without a hitch, I would highly recommend hiring Cello Joe!

Cello Joe did an awesome job with our wedding - he helped us through planning every part of the music for our big day and spent a lot of time working with us on playlists. I would recommend Cello Joe because we were able to have a live string performance during the ceremony while also seamlessly transitioning to a DJ set. We also appreciated how much he helped with setting up multiple sound systems and lighting for the dance party. I will definitely recommend Cello Joe to friends getting married in California.
Cello Joe
Cello Joe was a wonderful addition to our wedding day. From the start, his communication was professional, fast, and incredibly helpful as we planned the music and entertainment for our celebration. On the day of, the he arrived early and was able to seamlessly adjust to some last-minute changes to our timeline. The quality of his work was truly beautiful, with a broad and flexible playlist that kept our dance floor packed all night long. We couldn't recommend Cello Joe Productions enough - he was a joy to work with and helped make our special day absolutely perfect.
Cello Joe makes Magic Happen
Cello Joe was an amazing addition to our wedding! He was organized, communicated well leading up to the wedding, encouraging and fun. His cello playing was so beautiful during our ceremony and many people liked the cello-looping during cocktail hour! He then transformed into our MC and DJ- setting everything up in a very short time frame! (Not to mention he drove across California with all of his things!) He insisted on bringing lights to make the dancing more fun and I’m so glad he did. Overall, he set the mood of our wedding and it was really beautiful. Thanks Joey!
