I decided to enroll at the Art Institute of Atlanta where I earned my degree in Culinary Arts with a concentration in baking and pastry. After graduating I worked for a short time in a bakery located in the Buckhead area and then chose to go into my business for myself.

My name is Melanie Wideman and I am the owner and designer at A Little Slice of Heaven Bakery. I grew up in a family that prided itself in making delicious meals from scratch. As a child, I enjoyed helping my mother in the kitchen as she made her delicious pies and delectable pound cakes. My favorite tasks, after helping my mom get the baked goods in the oven, were licking the bowl and playing with the scraps of leftover pie dough to create unique ‘works of art’. I developed a passion for baking and cake decorating as an adult. The highlight of my career was my television premiere on the show Winner Cake All on Food Network.

Here at VTasteCakes, our small team has prior experience in the wedding/event industry, professional pastry training and even a degree in food science.
