We are a Smithsonian Affiliated Museum in downtown McKinney. Built in1900 and established in 1970. We have 54 years of service! We have the Art-O-Mat which is a vintage machine repurposed for collectible art hence the Art-O-Mat! People travel all over the world and to McKinney to add to their art collections! The Heard Craig Art Center & Museum has private parking in downtown McKinney with a private garden, gazebo, and Carriage House. Located in Deep Ellum at Hickory Street and Second Avenue, this complex of buildings was originally a 1921 Gulf Oil Company distribution center. It served North Texas with automobile maintenance facilities and storage. The seven buildings, including an office, pumphouse, service building, and a two-story warehouse with a basement, retain their original character. Notable features include the "Gulf Oil Corporation" ghost sign and ceramic capped parapets. Gulf Oil moved in the late 1950s, and the site housed various businesses until Gary Kaelson purchased it in 1997. Today, it's a thriving creative community with many small businesses.
