The Ruins is a whimsical venue hidden in plain sight, in the heart of Seattle’s Lower Queen Anne neighborhood. For several decades, the Ruins was known as Seattle’s best kept secret, hosting private dinners and wild parties for its members. The Ruins boasts a maximalist aesthetic and is full of surprises big and small, including an antique life-size animatronic elephant built in 1931 for the Paris World Exhibition. The Ruins has a unique ability to take guests to another time and place, making them forget what lies on the outside. Fremont Abbey is our main venue at 43rd & Fremont Avenue North in Seattle. The 1914 building was reopened in 2008 after undergoing major renovations including seismic, design, environment & visual improvements. As of 2023, we have installed a brand new HVAC system with air filtration and air-conditioning to our main upstairs hall. Now a beautiful & welcoming multi-use venue with a warm vintage style, the Abbey welcomes up to 250 people for events of many varieties including nonprofit galas, private weddings, receptions, parties, meetings, workshops, classes and more. We view weddings as an artistic, creative, community-celebrated gathering centered around the love and commitment of two people. As part of our nonprofit mission, we want to develop a partnership with you (as a member of the Abbey) to help create a beautiful and unique event for you and your loved ones. We provide a unique venue for your intimate wedding service aboard our vintage wood Flagship Cruiser. Our boat provides the perfect platform for your ceremony with a large open aft deck, allowing a panoramic view of the Seattle skyline. A wedding or vow renewal on our boat is performed by the captain of the vessel or you can choose a package with one of our alternative officiants. We offer a variety of services to cater to your beliefs and lifestyle. We can provide a mount for your cell phone to record or live stream your service, and our boat makes an amazing platform for photos. With our simple elopement you will receive 20 high resolution edited photographs taken by the captain. We will take advantage of the boat’s ability to be positioned for scenic photographs, and the bow can be utilized for capturing an intimate moment of the newlywed couple. If you would like additional pictures to remember your special day, upgraded photography packages are offered.

The MV Skansonia is Seattle’s premier waterfront venue. Constructed in 1929 by the Skansie Brothers, the Skansonia ferried cars and passengers between Vashon Island and Point Defiance for decades, before finding its permanent docking place on Lake Union and beginning its new career in event hosting.
