A hospitality first approach ensures your guests will feel taken care of while ensuring quick initial food and beverage options, warm service, and ways to eliminate queues. Our in-house catering provides a wide range of menus with different themes and service formats. The downtown Long Beach location provides access to lots of hotels, restaurants, Catalina, the Queen Mary, for a great weekend for your guests. And all roads lead to Long Beach so it's a perfect spot for those with guests coming from San Diego to Los Angeles. Welcome. The Portofino Inn, as it was originally named, was opened in 1962 by racecar enthusiast Mary Davis. The inn drew thousands of visitors for a three-day welcome celebration for the King Harbor opening and soon became a hangout for racers including Peter Revson, an F1 Grand Prix Winner. The Cannonball Run, a car race from New York to Los Angeles turned feature film, was first run in 1971 with The Portofino Inn as the final destination.

“We had our cocktail hour and wedding reception at the Portofino Hotel & Marina. There was quite a bit of staff turnover throughout the months during our planning process and we were nervous when our initial catering manager left, but we were so grateful to have Rain who took over as our catering manager and did an excellent job with our wedding reception! Rain stepped in seamlessly and was wonderful to work with. He took the time to understand our vision and provided suggestions to enhance our reception. His professionalism was evident in every interaction, which gave us great peace of mind during the planning process. Rain helped us create special details, like our signature drinks, and included thoughtful touches that really made our wedding day feel extra special. Thank you Rain!! We received numerous compliments from our guests about the delicious food and impeccable service. The venue itself is stunning and we couldn’t have picked a better reception location. I literally gasped when I walked into the ballroom and saw it all come together with the white linens, the gold chivari chairs, the white dance floor, the blue ocean and sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It was even more breathtaking as the sun was setting. Our reception was more beautiful than we could have imagined and I’m so glad we chose the Portofino!”
