Out of high school, I went directly to cosmetology school. My first hairdressing job landed me on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills at Jose Eber. Not a bad place to start. I moved around a bit until I found a salon that I was happy with. I worked in Malibu, where I had a good high end clientele. But I lived for the weddings and prom days. So Fairytale was born. I made a website, got a booth at a bridal show, and the response was overwhelming. Then I decided I needed to find other artists with the same passion and talent to work with. Thats when I started Fairytale Hair and Makeup!

I want the photos of my wedding that I don’t have –; that capture the moments of affection between our family members; that remind us of the little details and big feelings of that day. I want the photos of my father-in-law walking my wife down the aisle, six months before he unexpectedly passed away. Those photos don’t exist. Instead, I have a handful of blurry, poorly edited images, the half-hearted efforts of an amateur photographer who didn’t yet know what he was doing with a camera. At that time I didn’t know the value of a professional wedding photographer, so I didn’t make the investment and it’s one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made.

We are Dustin and Courtney, best friends and photographers. Before we shot weddings together we were a bride and groom. Yep, dated and married in less than a year! We just knew we wanted to do life together. As time has gone by we learned much more important things about each other. For example, Dustin’s heart can easily be won over with a hot cup of coffee, surfing, chasing our kids and any action movie.
