The Space Downtown was created in late 2010 by owners of chefs Tim Burgess and Vincent Derquenne. The two have been partners since 1991, creating their first restaurant Metropolitain which operated in the same location as Space. It closed in 2003 and the chef pair sold the restaurant but remained owners of the building. In early 2010, the location became vacant and the two decided to open for private parties only. In addition to the Space Downtown, the pair operate Bizou and Bang restaurants, all three close in vicinity to one another.

For over a quarter century, Karen Walker has been a proud and prominent resident of Charlottesville. I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years. I began my education at UVA, where I was an Echols scholar. Seeking a school with a greater focus on fine arts studio work, I transferred to the San Francisco Art Institute, where I earned a B.F.A. in Photography and Filmmaking. Throughout my career I have traveled and photographed extensively in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. I have visited and photographed more than 50 countries. I have founded 3 non-profit arts organizations: Live Arts Theater, Light House Studio, and LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph.

We have been involved in video production for over a decade and have been creating wedding films for couples for the past 10 years. The style and approach we take ensures you aren’t given just a video, but rather a carefully edited, cinematically beautiful film, full of all of the la crème moments of the day. We love the details, and it is those details that make each wedding completely different from the last.
