Shortly thereafter, he signed a major record deal as a rapper, joining the likes of Missy Elliot and Aaliyah. Hernan graduated from the CUNY of Hunter College as a Music and History major to better prepare himself for both the musical and culture of mariachi. Within the first 2 years, Mariachi Hidalgo has performed in some of New York's exclusive places. Hernan's main goal is to inspire and motivate other youths to continue this musical tradition of mariachi.
