The Canton Barn

5.0

Canton, SD
  • Venue
  • Up to 300 guests
  • Raw space
  • Starts at $2,500

The Canton Barn is a beautifully restored, 105 year old barn event venue that prides itself in welcoming guests into a comfortable atmosphere where our guests immediately feel at home. The barn is fully renovated with all the modern amenities, (yes, it is heated and cooled) and features a loft ceiling that soars 29 feet, a covered patio, wedding gazebo, fire pit and plush grounds. We have a full bar with bartenders provided. We also offer on site lodging, and a shuttle service.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides lighting and sound
  • Multiple event spaces
  • Space for a large guest list

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you're looking for a sleek and contemporary space
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • On-site parking not available
The Canton Barn was the perfect venue for our wedding! From start to finish, the communication with Tyler and Courtney was great - they responded quickly to emails and phone calls, and provided detailed answers to all of our questions. The venue itself is gorgeous, with beautiful rustic charm inside the barn and sprawling green fields outside that made for a stunning backdrop. All of our guests raved about what a wonderful venue it was, with cozy seating areas inside to mingle and a huge outdoor space where we had our dance with spots for lawn games and a bonfire. The value can't be beat - for the reasonable price and the flexibility to bring in our own vendors. I can't recommend The Canton Barn enough if you're looking to have a South Dakota weeding venue that really wows!

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

My daughter’s wedding was last Friday and it was absolutely perfect. We ordered flowers a few weeks before the wedding and got our first box no problem. The second box with the rest of the order was coming from a different location and UPS made a mistake with our address. If made me so nervous and I thought we are not going to have time to put flowers together but luis stepped in and resolved this situation very professionally. We got our flowers the same day and I can’t thank him enough for acting quickly and being incredibly helpful all they way. All of the flowers that came in looked great. My friend getting married in a few month and I would highly recommend Moxie Flowers to him and everyone who is having a wedding or any other event. A!!!

Jen was AMAZING to work with! When it came to flowers for my wedding, I had NO IDEA what I wanted. She was very patient with me and helped talk me through my vision. She gave me flowers to pick from, talked about how big I wanted my bouquet and how much greenery I wanted, and then when I could find colors I liked in swatches, she color-matched the colors I wanted from an inspo pic I found online! She was very professional and patient with me, even when my plans changed or I needed to add to my order.  I am not the best at putting together a bouquet. I am also someone who likes control, especially when it came to planning my wedding. I was thankful that I was able to give Jen the reins, tell her what I wanted, and watch her make my dreams come true. When I first saw my flowers, I was speechless. She truly did make my floral dreams come true, and now I get to keep my bouquet for the rest of my life! A wooden flower bouquet from Jen is the way to go!

My now husband and I are usually not "photo people", as we tend to be more introverts than anything else, and she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Her professionalism and guidance during the shoot can be described as more than stellar. I will definitely recommend her to all of my friends who will be getting married soon. Hi, I’m Isaac. In my world, light is everything. The cool ambient hues at dawn, hinting at what the day may bring. Golden sun rays catching particles through a tree as friends gathers to celebrate. A Cotton candy sunset peppered by patio string-lights as a DJ plays my favorite song. We all have timeless memories logged in our minds. For me, they are based in a language of light. As a wedding photographer, this deep connection to special lighting helps me produce dynamic visual stories of romance, personality and beauty.

We loved Isaac and his wife, Jing, who photographed our wedding earlier this month. Isaac was super calm and collected and on top of everything. His photography style was perfect for us. He already delivered about half of our retouched photos a week after the wedding which was insane and I love every single one. He was flexible with the 5 flower girls we had in and out of pictures and the multiple areas on our venue property. Overall an amazing experience and I recommend his work to anyone and everyone looking. He was very considerate when I first reached out about his work and wanted to use him and was very mindful of his travel fees to fit in our budget.

From the moment I reached out to him — he was informative, very professional, patient, and understanding. He drove from the Denver metro area to our wedding in Western Colorado (found his business on Zola while planning). We discussed different packages he had, and he let me add on last minute because it was very important for us to have certain moments captured. He did a fantastic job with our trailer — I love that it’s to our first dance song. The full video including first looks, vows, speeches, ceremony, etc. is a priceless memory — we’re thankful for the ability to relive our wedding day again and again. He captured every bit of our day beautifully & we had a large wedding/space to cover. Having these videos to look back on for a lifetime is a gift that goes beyond words. I've been filming and photographing weddings since 2009. I'm also a musician and I help craft most of the music in the wedding films I create. I love working with couples that have unique personalities and styles. My work resonates the most with who it's made for, and I always keep that audience in mind.

Steven was incredible from initial contact to follow-up after the event. He works with you to choose a package that fits your videography needs and budget. He is down-to-earth and makes you feel like he and his team are just old friends hanging out with you throughout the day. His videography style and music choices drew us to him in the first place, and he did not disappoint. He captured every magical detail, and we're so thankful to have chosen Birchfields.

Pick A Bloom-Preserved & Dried Florist-Shipped Nationwide

  • Florist
  • Starts at $350

Pick a Bloom was founded on love and laughter in small-town Surry, Virginia by us, a mother daughter duo, who wanted to see our vision of fresh flower alternatives bloom to life. We work primarily with 100% REAL preserved and dried flowers and foliage.

We are so happy with the way out flowers turned out for our wedding day. Paula and Samatha were such a joy to work with! We sent them our color pallet and ideas, which they were able to replicate and make it our own unique array of flowers. They provided great service with sending samples of their dried/preserved flowers and also a flower swap that we had to do. Would recommend for you occasion!

Hello! My name is Aanna and I can't wait to meet you. When I was seven years old, my parents gifted me with a tape recorder. It became my aim to document life in my home and beyond—an ongoing narration. Fast forward a few years and I brought my journalism to a new level when I spent my hard earned money on a camera. The rest is history—and a longer story for a future coffee date :) For as long as I can remember, I have been observing and responding to the stories and visuals around me; and it has only become more exciting with every person I meet and event I photograph!

Working with Aanna was an absolute dream for our wedding! She is truly a one woman show and spent 8 hours with us and never missed a shot. She was incredibly helpful in making us feel comfortable in front of the camera and was able to capture us beautifully in both candid and curated shots. There was excellent communication that helped our day run smoothly and stress free. We have received some teaser photographs back and are absolutely stunned with her artistic ability! 10/10 would recommend her to any couple out there for their photographer, we could not be happier!!!!!

Hey there, I’m Eric! Originally from Nebraska, I now reside in Minneapolis with my wife, three dogs, cat, and a bunch of reptile friends. Outdoors is my passion, whether hiking, biking, climbing, or camping, rain or shine. While I love capturing weddings in the heart of the Midwest, I’m always ready to travel across the country for a unique celebration. Elopements, especially, have a special place in my heart—there’s a thrill in capturing those intimate moments, wherever they may be. I've found love in documenting portraits, especially of couples, discovering a certain magic in their connection and the uniqueness of each love story.

Having Eric as a photographer is like hanging out with an old friend. He put this camera-shy couple at ease immediately, made us laugh, and always had great suggestions for posing to help get the best results possible. He came prepared with ideas for shots and scenes, and his videography was so unobtrusive we almost didn’t remember it was happening! He is quick to respond to questions, has an amazing eye for color and composition, and is generally just a really positive presence on a day that can otherwise be pretty stressful. Don’t sleep on Eric — you’ll be so glad you hired him!

I'm a true fan of love and honestly love every love story out there! I started my business on the foundation that every couple should be able to showcase their beauty and their love without limits, and that is still true to this day. I've have the privilege of being a part of many weddings in the past four years, and the best part of them all was being able to capture your emotions, those butterflies, the smiles and the tears. Those are the emotions that I strive to capture for your wedding day without ever having to pose you, so you can look back at your photos years from now and feel yourself in that moment again.

Awarded Best of Zola
We had the privilege of being one of Kristy's first weddings and we honestly had no idea what to expect. When we went into our first consultation video (we're located in Mt and had it based out in the Kalispell area so we chose to visit with her via Zoom) we were blown away by her professionalism and understanding of what we needed and expected of her. She helped us find local vendors, that we never thought we'd ever find, and even made a checklist of photos that we wanted her to take along with connecting with our vendors/venues to create a day of timeline to make our day go smoothly. When the day came her and her husband helped us feel relaxed and posed us to look both amazing and natural, something we wanted for our wedding photography. In all honesty we 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a budget friendly, knowledgeable, and professional photographer for their wedding.

A camera is a miracle. They allow you to capture a moment in time and then allow you to relive that moment forever. We make wedding films for the memories, the intimacy, and the heirlooms. Every. Moment. Is. Priceless. And you deserve to have it all captured, in a beautifully cinematic wedding film from Kings Films that tells the full story of the best day of your life.

there are not enough words to express how amazing Ariel and his team are! They went above, and beyond what we asked for and we are so grateful that we decided to go with this videographer team. Our thoughts for our video felt out there, and I had quite a few people give me strange looks when I was explaining what I wanted done. But Ariel was excited about the style and had so many ideas off the bat. I am so grateful that we decided to go with his team for our wedding! If we ever need another videographer, he’s the one I’m going to call!
