“When you elope in the middle of a pandemic, it matters all the more that you love your photographer--since they'll be the only other person at your wedding. :) And in short, we couldn't be happier that ours was Shawnee. She has such a gift and a love for the work she does—and it shows. We knew she was the right person from the moment we met on Zoom--she is warm and kind, asked all the right questions, and instantly put us at ease. My partner and I eloped at the end of October 2020 in DC, just before the election. It was a whirlwind moment for so many reasons, especially as a queer couple. And it mattered to us that the person who captured those treasured memories, really understood what that moment meant to us. They dressed appropriately for our wedding theme and many of the guests at the Hawthorne Hotel wanted to take pictures with Karlea in her Twenties attire. Jay and his Bellocq team were A from start to finish. We were blown away by A) the sheer amount of photos given back (they don't cap their packages at certain photo counts) and B) how seamlessly the entire collection flowed together from start to finish. We really liked how he incorporated the audio from our ceremony throughout the video instead of just playing music the entire time. The food was delicious and plentiful from the passed Hor Devous to all 4 live food stations, and all the chefs and workers took special precautions for my son's food allergies. The venue was perfect, a beautiful place to have a cocktail party or wedding. Racheal handled all the details to make the party extra special for a beautiful couple. Being the host, all I had to do was show up, greet the guest, and have a great time.”
