In 2019 it was purchased and renovated into what it is now, a beautiful historic entertainment venue. The Hartley House (also known as the Bond-Bates-Hartley House) located in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina was built circa 1790 for John Pearson Bond. The house later came into possession of John Bates, husband of John Pearson Bond’s great niece and a member of the family that the town of Batesburg was named for. There are many local legends surrounding this house and it’s friendly visitors. According to local tradition, the Bond-Bates-Hartley House served as a stagecoach stop and post office, prior to the founding of the town of Batesburg. Architecturally the house is a typical upcountry farmhouse, with a portico adapted from the Greek Revival style.

In the year of 1762, Mr. Newberry and Mr. Thames purchased the land from Mr. Gray. In the deed, there was mention of a sawmill and grist mill on the place, but no mention of a house. In 1833 Mr. Byrne purchased the land from Mr. Newberry. At this time the house and store were on the land. Later on Mr. Byrne sold the land, and it change hands several times..." The house served as a mill home, store, and the Gray's Creek post office for many years.

It is a true arts destination for York county as it is home to offices of the Arts Council of York County, the Rock Hill Pottery Center, Art on Main, Concerts at the Courtroom, Hill City Church, and artist studios. Concerts are often held in the renovated historic courtroom on the second floor at the Gettys. It’s the perfect place to host receptions or other special occasions
