(Yeah, you read that right, carry on.) ​When I was younger, my dad used to follow me around with an old camcorder (you know, one of those big ones with the VHS tapes in it) and narrate my little life. It’s so much fun to hook the camera up to the TV now and watch all those clips again. I’ve seen them so many times I can quote some of the things little me is saying in the videos.

Basic human nature compels us to take an interest in photography. How can we understand the passage of time, the reality of the past, and of right now, without it? I cannot think of any other medium that so greatly encompasses preservation, appreciation, gratitude and documentation the way that photography does. Photographs have power. They can transport you to another time, they can conjure a once vivid memory after it fades, they can show you what love looks like and at the very least, they can record a moment or an image of something you never want to forget.

My favorite images are almost always the moments through your wedding day that happen organically. If you decide to see each other before the ceremony, I will set you up in a spot with great light, and then shoot from afar with a long lens. This is your moment and not one that should be posed or interfered with. Of course, there will be some posed photos throughout the day, but I promise that you will not be smiling at the camera for lengthy periods of time.
