We got married at Sound River Studios in August 2022, and it was truly the most beautiful and perfect venue for us. Una is an accommodating and professional venue manager. While you have to book everything separately into this blank canvas of miracle space, you won't be restricted to a list of vendors – however, Una is happy to share info on companies who have worked (and impressed) at the venue before. What I particularly appreciated was her honesty in providing advice and her open-minded approach to any ideas we'd bring forward. We ultimately went with the majority of her recommendations, and I have to say, being surrounded by a team that knew each other and the venue made all the difference. The space itself is incredible. The indoor/outdoor setting is ideal and offers plenty of flexibility to adapt to weather and or guestlist fluctuations. The view is one-of-a-kind. Located right at the East River you get uninterrupted views of the skyline, both during the day- and nighttime. And the breeze from the offer is a very welcome refreshment during hot summer months. Thank you so much to the whole team of Sound River Studios for hosting our dream wedding.

Peekskill, NY

With its views over the Hudson River Highlands, Fort Hill was a key lookout post for George Washington and his army during the Revolutionary War; in 1902, it became home to a convent and chapel, established by the Episcopal Sisters of Saint Mary. The abbey and its chapel have been converted into The Abbey Inn & Spa – a luxury hotel with 42 rooms and suites, a Michelin recommended farm-to-table restaurant under the direction of Chef Peter X. Kelly, a luxurious spa, an outdoor pool, and over 65 acres to explore. The chapel offers a unique venue for important occasions, and a peaceful English garden provides s gorgeous background for photos. Lovingly restored and meticulously designed, our hotel pays homage to its historic heritage while offering contemporary amenities and world-class service to each and every guest. All of us at The Abbey Inn and Spa are thrilled to be part of this exciting transformation, and we’re eager to share it with you.

I was one of few original wedding photographers to capture Abbey Inn's grand opening commercial photo shoot. I was extremely impressed by not only the polite construction and staff at the facility, but also how they had EVERYTHING figured out for large scale weddings and events to take place at their location. They have stunning-luxury hotel rooms & suites, a restaurant, bar and lounge space, gorgeous views of the Hudson valley, a cathedral -aesthetic ceremony and reception hall, lush gardens and lawns, plenty of parking, JUST A PERFECT SPOT for weddings and events so travel isn't an issue. ONE STOP SHOP :D I highly recommend this wedding venue!

Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club

5.0

Mamaroneck, NY
  • Up to 225 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor

MBYC offers a wide range of culinary adventures. Situated on the scenic Long Island Sound and Mamaroneck Harbor the club’s setting makes for a stunning backdrop from all of our indoor and outdoor dining facilities. MBYC is a historic social institution, whose unparalleled facilities and grounds have made it a destination for major social events since its inception in 1885. Situated on the scenic Long Island Sound and Mamaroneck Harbor make for a stunning backdrop for all types of events. The Club offers many options for your private event from small imitate gatherings to larger events in our catering facility. Whether it be for 360 people or small intimate gatherings, our elegant ballroom, unique wine cellar or any of our other indoor and outdoor venues will be the perfect setting for your special event. Please contact Robert at mbyc-ny dot com to inquire. Thank you!

We got married at MBYC on June 22, 2024 and can confidently say that this venue is the best choice you could ever make for your wedding, event, party, etc. This is a hidden gem in the greater New York area, and we urge you to look no further than MBYC to host a fantastic party that your guests will remember for years to come. Each time we visited MBYC, we felt more and more certain that this was the perfect place for our wedding, and our guests have emphatically raved nonstop since the wedding. From the copious amounts of delicious food, to the gorgeous indoor/outdoor atmosphere and stunning views, to the excellent on-site facilities for getting ready, pictures, after party and more, MBYC is a stellar venue with a variety of excellent offerings. In fact, we have found it difficult to find the words to adequately describe how absolutely phenomenal our experience was with MBYC and their team. Bob, James, Rosemary, the bridal attendants and the entire staff went above and beyond at every turn, from our very first meeting all the way until our wedding day. As a whole, they are professional, attentive, kind, and experienced, and equipped to handle every situation. We firmly believe that the people who work at MBYC-are the reason to book this venue. Bob, the events manager, has an unrivaled attention to detail and never ceased to amaze us. From our first meeting, he assured me that a day-of coordinator wasn’t necessary, and while I was initially skeptical, I truly don’t think there would’ve been anything left for them to do, given the caliber and quality of the service at MBYC. He was responsive throughout the entire planning process, fielding many type A questions from an anxious bride with grace and positivity. As our wedding date came closer, he expertly coordinated all of the details and vendors so I never had to lift a finger or worry that something wouldn’t go according to plan. James had a service oriented, client/guests-first mentality from our very first meeting, that only continued throughout our planning process up until our wedding day. We even observed him working alongside other staff in a spontaneous summer downpour to move the cocktail hour inside, only to move it back outside a few moments later after the storm had passed, because he knew that an outdoor cocktail hour had always been our vision. Many wedding venues and workers may have used this weather as an excuse to keep things simple, but Bob and James never did- they instead did everything they could to help us achieve the wedding of our dreams. You simply cannot replicate that level of service and dedication to your clients. We cannot discuss the incredible dining experience at MBYC without first mentioning Rosemary. She ensured all of our guests’ food arrived hot, managed a variety of dietary restrictions, and flawlessly executed a three course experience for our 250 guests. The food was superb- our cocktail stations were a hit, delicious and varied and regularly replenished. The sea bass has been called the best meal that some of our guests have EVER eaten at a wedding. We could go on and on about why Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club is absolutely, unequivocally the best wedding venue on the east coast- but bottom line is, do yourself a favor and book here. You will certainly not be disappointed.

TWA Hotel

4.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 350 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $20,000

Fully restored to its original glory, the TWA Flight Center offers 200,000 square feet of flexible space including outdoor terraces. Original details — the Vulcain clock, sparkling white penny tile and plush Chili Pepper Red carpets — exude Jet Age glamour. Saarinen’s iconic Flight Tubes (made famous by the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can) lead to guestrooms and museum exhibits, as well as provide a premium photo opp. The nostalgic clacking sound of two authentic Solari split-flap boards — and the view of the 1958 Lockheed Constellation on the tarmac just outside — fully transport visitors back to the golden age of travel.

Our wedding turned out to be incredibly beautiful, thanks to a unique venue and execution by its staff. However, that perfect day was almost derailed by the unacceptable pressure campaign to change ceremony locations due to concerns over furniture getting wet. We wanted this review to capture our nearly 20 months of planning with the TWA Hotel. PLANNING PROS: -Variety of spaces -Responsiveness -Flexibility for storing supplies CONS: -No FAQ document -Frustrating room block system -Forgotten menu tasting notification -Lack of communication and contradictory info from the Paris Cafe for rehearsal dinner THE WEDDING PROS: -Organized and accommodating staff -The food, especially the pastrami station and red velvet cake for dessert CONS: -Wrong display with typo on Solaris board in the Sunken Lounge -Our tiered wedding cake wasn’t cut and served even tho there clearly wasn’t enough sheet cake to pass around -The weather “policy”: We were told that we could make a final decision on an outdoor ceremony up until the morning of our wedding, and our point of contact reassured us of this during our final walkthru 2 weeks out. Our contract also secured the Sunken Lounge as the backup option if we chose to move indoors. However, in the final days and hours before our wedding, we were pressured to move our ceremony indoors, despite nearly all weather reports showing clear skies for our 5-6pm ceremony and rain only after 9pm. Our point of contact started questioning our outdoor plans 4-5 days before the wedding, and even met with us multiple times - first in the lobby while we were dropping off supplies 2 days before our wedding, again when we were checking in the next day, and yet again when we were at the pool before our rehearsal dinner, where we had to brush off our guests in order to have a serious meeting. Each time, they told us we needed to make a "final call" now, not the morning-of as we had been told before. After listing their reasons to move the ceremony indoors (which included threatening to release the Sunken Lounge from our backup option, despite what our contract said), the point of contact mentioned that the head manager was concerned about the rain damaging the leather chairs, and then proposed a “solution” of having the ceremony outside, but not setting up any chairs so that our guests would stand for the entire ceremony. It was clear to us that the real reason why we were being pressured was that the manager didn’t want their leather chairs to get wet! We asserted that, unless we were explicitly told we couldn't have our ceremony outside, we would stick with the outdoor option. The morning of our wedding, our day-of coordinator informed us that the venue was insisting they now had a “50% chance of rain policy”, giving them the “right” to change ceremony locations. We immediately forwarded reports from 10 weather sites that all had a chance of rain between 5-7pm at 0-30%. We finally saw chairs being set up outside in the mid-afternoon, and when our ceremony got underway, the clouds parted ways and the sun started shining. CONCLUSION: The TWA Hotel is such a special place to celebrate your wedding! Before you sign the contract, however, understand that you’ll have to stay on top of the planning process, and in cases like ours, fight for what you envision. Make sure the contract spells out any and all promises — there were items that we made sure they honored as it was clear the hotel’s policies had changed since the signing.
