TWA Hotel

4.5

New York, NY
  • Venue
  • Up to 350 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $30,000

Fully restored to its original glory, the TWA Flight Center offers 200,000 square feet of flexible space including outdoor terraces. Original details — the Vulcain clock, sparkling white penny tile and plush Chili Pepper Red carpets — exude Jet Age glamour. Saarinen’s iconic Flight Tubes (made famous by the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can) lead to guestrooms and museum exhibits, as well as provide a premium photo opp. The nostalgic clacking sound of two authentic Solari split-flap boards — and the view of the 1958 Lockheed Constellation on the tarmac just outside — fully transport visitors back to the golden age of travel.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Handles all cleanup logistics
  • Provides catering services
  • Accommodates more than 200 guests

Venue considerations

  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
Our wedding turned out to be incredibly beautiful, thanks to a unique venue and execution by its staff. However, that perfect day was almost derailed by the unacceptable pressure campaign to change ceremony locations due to concerns over furniture getting wet. We wanted this review to capture our nearly 20 months of planning with the TWA Hotel. PLANNING PROS: -Variety of spaces -Responsiveness -Flexibility for storing supplies CONS: -No FAQ document -Frustrating room block system -Forgotten menu tasting notification -Lack of communication and contradictory info from the Paris Cafe for rehearsal dinner THE WEDDING PROS: -Organized and accommodating staff -The food, especially the pastrami station and red velvet cake for dessert CONS: -Wrong display with typo on Solaris board in the Sunken Lounge -Our tiered wedding cake wasn’t cut and served even tho there clearly wasn’t enough sheet cake to pass around -The weather “policy”: We were told that we could make a final decision on an outdoor ceremony up until the morning of our wedding, and our point of contact reassured us of this during our final walkthru 2 weeks out. Our contract also secured the Sunken Lounge as the backup option if we chose to move indoors. However, in the final days and hours before our wedding, we were pressured to move our ceremony indoors, despite nearly all weather reports showing clear skies for our 5-6pm ceremony and rain only after 9pm. Our point of contact started questioning our outdoor plans 4-5 days before the wedding, and even met with us multiple times - first in the lobby while we were dropping off supplies 2 days before our wedding, again when we were checking in the next day, and yet again when we were at the pool before our rehearsal dinner, where we had to brush off our guests in order to have a serious meeting. Each time, they told us we needed to make a "final call" now, not the morning-of as we had been told before. After listing their reasons to move the ceremony indoors (which included threatening to release the Sunken Lounge from our backup option, despite what our contract said), the point of contact mentioned that the head manager was concerned about the rain damaging the leather chairs, and then proposed a “solution” of having the ceremony outside, but not setting up any chairs so that our guests would stand for the entire ceremony. It was clear to us that the real reason why we were being pressured was that the manager didn’t want their leather chairs to get wet! We asserted that, unless we were explicitly told we couldn't have our ceremony outside, we would stick with the outdoor option. The morning of our wedding, our day-of coordinator informed us that the venue was insisting they now had a “50% chance of rain policy”, giving them the “right” to change ceremony locations. We immediately forwarded reports from 10 weather sites that all had a chance of rain between 5-7pm at 0-30%. We finally saw chairs being set up outside in the mid-afternoon, and when our ceremony got underway, the clouds parted ways and the sun started shining. CONCLUSION: The TWA Hotel is such a special place to celebrate your wedding! Before you sign the contract, however, understand that you’ll have to stay on top of the planning process, and in cases like ours, fight for what you envision. Make sure the contract spells out any and all promises — there were items that we made sure they honored as it was clear the hotel’s policies had changed since the signing.

After nearly a decade of freelancing as a wedding cinematographer and photographer, I’m excited to have opened my own studio, dedicated to capturing love stories. Weddings are about more than just beautiful shots—they’re about preserving raw, candid emotions. My goal is to capture moments you’ll cherish forever, so you can relive your wedding day for years to come.

From our very first interaction, their communication was open, clear and precise, putting us at ease throughout the entire process. If you have visited the Foundry, you know how amazing and beautiful it is, but what you don’t know before you work with them is how responsive and helpful they are once you have committed to them. We had about 130 guests and used the main room for the ceremony, the greenhouse room and space outside for the cocktail hour, the courtyard for the reception dinner, the main room again for the dancing, and the greenhouse room again for the after party (11 to midnight). We also rented the Du Val suite for getting ready, and it was a superb space for the groom’s party and extended family to get ready and hang out and also has the most beautiful garden with city views. Our wedding was absolutely amazing and vindicated our immediate love for the Foundry that we developed the first time we toured it, and the Foundry staff are extremely helpful and kind.

Our experience with the Douglaston Manor was an actual dream come true! From the moment we walked in to see the Manor, Kathy, our wedding coordinator, was wonderful. Relaxed, sweet, and so caring about us and what we wanted, she never made us feel pressured or nervous and gently made suggestions which ended up making our night even better than we could have hoped. Working with Carlos our Maitre D and Michelle my Bridal Attendant was a blessing. Michelle was so attentive and helpful. Within minutes of meeting her, I felt like I was spending time with a good friend. She was so funny, kept me calm and literally did anything and everything I needed- most of the time without me having to ask her. The same could be said for Carlos. Just to give a small example, my fake eyelash starting come off a tiny bit. Without any eyelash glue on us, I was nervous about how we would fix the issue but The Manor proved how above and beyond they'd go when Carlos, unpromoted and unknown to me at the time, went out and brought me eyelash glue! It was a small gesture but it went a long way and showed me how devoted the Manor is to their clients. Michelle made sure he knew exactly what to get and she helped me fix it when he came back (which was unbelievably quick as well) . Carlos was fantastic at keeping my group organized and making sure the ceremony was perfect. We are so grateful to both of them. Aside from their exceptional service, the staff at the manor was outstanding- every room was impeccably decorated and arranged exactly as we had hope, all of the items we had brought with us for various aspects of the night were set up perfectly without instruction and the attention to detail was second to none. The food. I am biased seeing as it was my own wedding, but the food was incredible from start to finish. The cocktail hour sampling that Michelle left from my husband and I including EVERYTHING being served downstairs and was presented beautifully- time was clearly taken to make sure we were able to try the food but also have it presented to us in a really special way. Kathy had suggested we try an "off-menu" item, braised beef in a red wine sauce, and no surprise, it was easily the best tasting wedding dinner item I've had at any wedding. There are so many things that go into making a wedding day perfect and that means there are so many things that are easy to stress over. Not once during the planning process or on the big day did I ever feel worried or concerned. Everybody communicated clearly, checked and double checked things and did everything possible to ensure everything was perfect- not just great, but genuinely perfect. Oh, and the cost was VERY reasonable. Kathy worked with us every step of the way to accommodate our budget while making sure the elements we wanted were included. We are looking forward to going back to the manor for future celebrations and feel so thankful to have been treated so well. They made our day everything we ever could have hoped for!

Hello! I am Ioana, a wedding and family photographer. I recently moved my business from Transylvania, Romania, to New York. Yes, Transylvania is a real place, and no, I can't tell you if I’m a vampire... I signed a pledge, of course. Oops, did I just blow my cover? Anyway, back to why you're here:

A dream has recently come true, that of joining my destiny with my partner from now until old age. We are extremely grateful that we had Ioana with us, who honored us with her glamorous, sweet, cinematic style. Every time we go through the photos, we feel as if we are watching the most successful film of 2023, a masterpiece. There were moments that my husband and I forgot to prepare, being caught in the moment and the stress of the event tho Ioana gave us the wonderful surprise of capturing incredible and intimate pieces of memories . Her work manages to impress us everytime we watch our photos and make us feel loved and beautiful. Therefore, I recommend Mrs. Ioana Stavar with all my trust and love. I am sure that she will take care of you, with as much passion as she has for photography!

If you're looking for a professional photographer who can put you at ease and capture your most precious moments then you're in the right place. I have 20+ years of experience in media. From the moment I had a reply from Shanta I knew she was the photographer for us. We were eloping to Central Park and there was to only be the two of us. Shanta agreed to our witness as well as our photographer. Everything was dealt with by email and Shanta responded quickly and her emails were always warm and friendly. On the day Shanta was amazing. The weather was not the best, but her lovely personality put us both at ease and we spent a great day with her. It was an absolute pleasure to have her as part of our day. The photo are amazing, exactly what we wanted and were sent to us on an online gallery as promised. I would not hesitate in recommending Shanta. To date, there are only two images of me as a child. The first is my passport photo at the age of 1.5 months, the second is an image of me at the age of 8. Because of this, I have a deeper understanding, value and passion for photographs and imagery. With that said, I purchased my first camera at the age of 16 with my first paycheck! (used to flip burgers at a local Roy Rogers!). With that camera, I quickly learned how much I loved the art of documenting life with imagery and in 2012, I left a 16 year career in healthcare to follow my dream of becoming a photographer. I haven't looked back one day since then.

•down to earth •always cheerful •in love with her job •hits her deadlines •knows the ins&outs of the business •Never fails the meet product expectations The only thing you might love more than Nidji's work Is Nidji. She's a pleasure for both her clients and co-vendors. Wedding planning is stressful on every level, even after you've got your ducks in order. Tom Schelling is class, personified. Our experience with working with Tom and his fiancé Heather the day of our wedding was seamless and perfect! He is super creative, relaxed and flexible, as well as efficient and organized.. essentially he checks every single box you could ever want in your wedding photographer! My husband and I arrived separately to a predetermined location in Central Park by Tom for a genuine first look, followed by a breathtaking shoot at nearby locations in the park, and finally our ceremony at Dene Summerhouse. The entire experience leading up to our actual ceremony not only eased our own anxieties, but we had so much fun! He took the “pressure and work” off of us through his ability to gently and creatively guide us through our photos and make us laugh along the way. Tom is a visionary, and has an eye for originality, class, and romance. His photography embodies iconic NYC as well. Tom was extremely helpful in planning the timeline of our special day, in choosing the photo and ceremony locations, and in organizing the shot list for family photos. In conclusion, do not hesitate to choose Tom Schelling as your NYC Wedding Photographer or for your special event, it will be the best decision you have made! Thank you, Tom!

I was so pleased with this family team. So professional, they scopes out the venue months ahead, very responsive and rates were reasonable. I was obsessed with my trailer when I got it, a great share for those I wasn’t able to invite. The packaging and final product was so fun to watch. A few minor things I would have wanted was a better view of me singing, in all honesty I forgot to give them a heads up about that while keeping it a surprise, I would have liked to have the toast on the video and more scenes from around the room and talking to guests…..there were some video from around the venue I just wanted more. Who doesn’t want more lol? Overall, amazing job and I would recommend them to any and everyone needing their services.

I can not rave about Lhundup enough! He made the whole process so seamless. My fiancé and I were so nervous. We had no idea what to do, how to pose, over all just a very new experience for us. He told us what to expect ahead of time, send us photos of the location and was able to answer any questions we had before hand. We hired him for the pre wedding photo shoot and loved him so much that we hired him for the wedding as well. I will forever cherish the photos he was able to capture. We’ve never looked better! We will definitely be using his services for future events. If you are looking for a photographer and stumbled upon this review. Don’t hesitate! Just message him and give him a call. His energy radiates through the phone. He will not only capture beautiful photos but he’ll make the whole experience so fun.

Thanks for visiting my profile! To tell you a bit about myself, I've always wanted to be a filmmaker since I could remember... My grandpa was always filming every family interaction and had a 500 title dvd collection, so that left a big impression on me. I was the kid who grouped up my friends and coordinated lightsaber battles in the front yard; later editing in FX frame by frame. While in film school I used to film in dance clubs, making music videos of clubbers having a good time. This helped develop my style and created the foundation of what I do today! Apart from filmmaking, I enjoy a good jam sesh, playing chess, and surfing :)

I couldn't be happier with the video produced for us by Shuttersound Pictures. They took the time to get to know us, and understood perfectly what I DIDN'T want in the video (long lingering shots of the couple looking at each other, overwrought montages and voiceovers, etc -- fine for some but not my style!) and instead captured the true essence of the day: a couple in love, being celebrated by friends and family, and a hell of a party. Friends have all said it's the best wedding video they've ever seen, and I couldn't agree more! I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Happy Music DJ

5.0

  • DJ
  • Serves Jamaica, NY

We are a family-owned and operated entertainment company located right in the heart of New York City. Happy Music DJ features bilingual, Chinese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, speaking DJs and MCs, specializing in weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, private events, and more.

We are so glad we worked with HMDJ for our wedding! We enjoyed how DJ Jason mixed the music we chose, and helped fill gaps with some of his choices as well. Our guests were dancing until the end of the event, we had so much fun! MC James was absolutely amazing. Before our wedding we met with him and he gave great advice on the schedule, making sure we did our Reception activities in a way that would keep our guests entertained, and suggesting some games that could involve everyone. During the wedding he did a great job hyping up our guests for our entrance, first dance, speeches, shoe game, and bouquet toss. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, which made communicating with our families really smooth! We also booked the photobooth through HMDJ. We loved the props they had, and we laughed so much looking through all the photos our guests did!

I had an amazing experience with Alyssa being my hair stylist on the day of my wedding! Her expertise was evident as soon as we started. She was very enthusiastic in making sure to cut my hair exactly to my specifications. The value speaks for itself, as soon as I stepped off the chair, I left extremely confident to start the biggest day of my life. I couldn’t recommend Alyssa more on your special day and while you're at it have her fix up your groomsmen as well
