The day before, disaster struck—a storm took down my tents, my fiancé broke his foot, and my dad had a concussion. After a long day in the ER, I was back arranging flowers and setting up decor. Despite the chaos, the wedding was beautiful. That day taught me this: every couple deserves to enjoy their moment without stress. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I started my career as a pediatric occupational therapist. I slowly developed my side hobby of designing florals and photographing into a side business until I was unable to practice both careers any longer. The choice was easy to quit my full time job working for an agency to running my own photography and floral events and wedding business with the help of my amazing team.

Years ago, I read this poem by Mary Oliver. No longer inspired by my tech start-up desk job, I thought to myself, ‘what is it I would like to spend my life doing?’. I turned to the first job I ever had in high school, being a florist, and began Wild. Over the years, I have discovered such meaning in creating with my hands. My lush, romantic, organic aesthetic is inspired by the natural world; the untamed and ephemeral beauty of flowers. In each of my designs, I look to reflect on the unique allure of the seasons by combining the traditional and more the uncommon together. Based in New York City, my team crafts bespoke designs for weddings and events throughout the tri-state area, across the Hudson Valley, and beyond! Dani Chou is the owner of Petals by Dani, a boutique floral design studio based in New York City. Growing up in Taiwan, she lived in a traditional courtyard home full of longan, papaya, guava, gardenia shrubs and jasmine vines.
