Growing up in rural Virginia my intro to photography came to me at 14 while breaking into abandoned houses with friends to take photos that can only be describe in retrospection as “experimental”. I was born and raised in a quiet seaside town on the South Shore of Long Island. I grew up in a place where good, strong love grows with parents who have been together since they were 16 years old. They taught me that true love grows in the face of hardship and, as strong believers in their faith, that love is, indeed, patient and kind. And so as soon as I realized that wedding photography didn’t have to be posed and mechanical; that I could shoot weddings from a more organic and authentic lens; that I could document a story, not direct one, I was hooked!

“Having a good photographer was one of my priorities for my wedding. I knew the day was going to be a whirlwind and I wanted to be able to look back and at least have one photo where my eyes weren’t closed or something. Lauren absolutely delivered — I don’t think we’ve ever looked as good in pictures and I know I probably won’t again!! Lauren also recommended Elizabeth for our day-of coordinator and I don’t know what we would have done without her — I definitely would have lost my mind, of that I’m sure. First, I can’t overstate the importance of finding a photographer with whom you have a good rapport — Lauren has this charisma where you instantly feel at ease and like you’ve known her your whole life. It frankly made me less nervous and I think that translates really well in the photos. She’s also a master of making you look the best in posed photos - giving little positioning directions that you look elegant without looking stiff. Every time I look at the pictures I’ll notice another candid moment that Lauren managed to capture or simply marvel at how she somehow can translate emotion in a still picture — I find myself smiling and definitely not crying (jk definitely crying) because you can FEEL what we were feeling in these photos. Second, get you a planner who is superhuman. Elizabeth took over six weeks (!) before the wedding and it was like a literal weight was lifted from my shoulders. At our first meeting she went through her checklist (and mine bc of course I had my own) and said “I’ll take care of it” to literally everything... and then...did?? I was fully prepared to have to follow up with vendors and micromanage but I basically didn’t have to do anything. It was magical. Elizabeth and her team did so much work and went above and beyond in literally every way to ensure we had a perfect day. Anyway, if you’re struggling with choosing a photographer because there are 72525 million to choose from, and you like the style of Lauren’s photos, go for it ASAP. Lauren is incredible and I feel so lucky that we were able to work with her. And if you need a day-of coordinator (or a full blown wedding planner!) pick Elizabeth - she has the eye for design and the capability to pull it off and pull it off well!”

“I found Erin through another DC wedding photographer who wasn't available on my wedding day but highly recommended her based on their similar photography style: classic and elegant. These adjectives were exactly what I wanted for our wedding day - someone who can capture our big day, while also finding beauty in the smallest details to the grandest backdrop. When I shared her work with a number of photographers, they quickly identified Erin's work was exceptional. After our first video call, I found Erin so easy to talk to and knew that I could trust her on our big day. When we first started to work with her on our engagement photo shoot, Erin was so fun and made us look so effortlessly beautiful. I was terrified of looking awkward, but she knew all the ways to make us look natural and elegant. Erin was also prompt in getting us our engagement photos since we wanted to share them on our wedding website; many of our friends and family were shocked by how amazing we looked in the DC landmarks. Weeks before the wedding, Erin went to our venues to get a feel of the atmosphere and to figure out if there would be any other issues (such as other conflicting events that would impact our wedding party photo shoot). Her attention-to-detail and making sure she was familiar with the locations truly made me feel like she was going above and beyond! Fast forward on the wedding day, Erin and her team arrived on-time and worked seamlessly with the vendors and the wedding party to ensure both my husband and I can focus on each other. She knew how to guide the wedding party and our families during our photo shoot, making sure everyone looked their best! One memory comes to mind was when a bridesmaid pointed out: "Wow your photographer is willing to get her flats wet in the Portrait Gallery's water scrim so that she can get the best angle of us..." This is exactly what I mean that Erin was delivering top-notch quality service! After the wedding party, family and couple portrait photo shoot, Erin and her team worked quietly in the background making sure they were capturing us perfectly during our ceremony. We also had a tea ceremony as part of our cocktail hour and Erin did a phenomenal job photographing the ornate details of my culture. One of the next most important part of our wedding was the reception - which she took dreamy classic photographs of us, our guests, along with the finer details of the flowers, cake and the whole elegant vibe. It was all so surreal to see the photos captured so perfectly. From Erin's quick turn-around in getting our photos back (less than two months!) to her amazing and positive attitude, I am so relieved and blessed to have Erin as our wedding photographer.
