Established in 1750 as an English land grant in the picturesque White Mountains of Maine (then the “Massachusetts Bay Colony”), Hardy Farm remained in the same family for ten generations prior to being purchased by Greg and Deborah Link in 2001. After a The Links transformed Hardy Farm into a very special and unique “rustic elegant” venue for weddings and events offering an authentically historic feel, with a distinctly unique ambiance of contemporary yet rustic elegance featuring all of today's modern amenities. Hardy Farm accommodates up to 32 people overnight and the property encompasses 13 acres with beautiful gardens and stone patios, fire pit, the farmhouse, barn, lodge, woodland chapel, and their own 103’ sailcloth tent. Guests at Hardy Farm enjoy the beautiful rural New England setting with convenient proximity to North Conway, NH, and the Mt. Washington Valley, offering a myriad of year-round outdoor activities.

In 1865, after a stagecoach crash, two travelers were welcomed by William and Mary Jane Dodge, who later opened Mountain View House. Over generations, the resort expanded, hosting celebrities and presidents. It closed in 1986 but was revived in 2002 as Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, offering luxury and hospitality surrounded by the White Mountains.

Our story begins in 1858 when Frank Jones arrived in Portsmouth with a dream of brewing ale. Within three decades, The Frank Jones Brewery became the largest ale producer in the country. As ale production expanded, the brewery added a cooperage and scald house to clean the barrels. Workers used scalding hot rocks to sanitize barrels because soap and water would cause them to warp. Once cleaned, the barrels were filled with Jones’ signature ales. The Hawthorn now occupies this Scald House, retaining its original red-brick walls, towering beams, and industrial windows. “Cheers,” then, has a whole new meaning at The Hawthorn. When you raise your glass at your event, you’ll be toasting in a place that’s positively brewing with Portsmouth ale-making heritage and local history.

Located in the western mountains and farmlands of Maine, the Barton Family Farm is a family run venue that has a little something for everyone! At the BFF you receive Friday-Sunday use of our estate which includes our wedding barn (seats 106), farmhouse (sleeps 10), parking, apple orchard, 8 acre hayfield with mountain views, pond, firepit, covered bar, chairs, decorative tables, lawn games, flower gardens, and much more! Our partner, Strange Events will be your day of coordinator, and is included in the price of the venue. Strange events also is able to supply a multitude of other services like bartending, clean up and set up, officiating, and more. Our barn uses centuries - old techniques and traditions of joining heavy timber frames with a mortise and tenon method, supported by wooden pegs and brackets. Using local woodworkers and craftsman bring the true Maine experience to our barn. While building an old style building and incorporating all of today's amenities, such as temperature controlled environment, lighting, plumbing and plenty of parking it makes the perfect place for your venue.
