Royal Icing of Maine, LLC is operated in Cumberland, Maine. While the bakery concept was conceptualized years ago; the opportunity arose in 2021 to take an idea and turn it into a reality. A recent transplant from NYC. Michelle has always been an avid baker and cook, Michelle enrolled in The Institute of Culinary Education’s School of Pastry and Baking Arts and graduated in September of 2013 with Highest Honors. Following her externship, Michelle launched her own business, Eat Great Cake where she creates custom cakes and pastries. Michelle attended the University of California San Diego and has completed numerous certificate programs in the culinary arts.

Owner Shauna Hinchen-Joyal studied pastry arts at Johnson and Wales University and has worked in the baking industry for over 20 years, making specialty event and wedding cakes as well as her signature pastries. Shauna and her husband and partner Bob have been trained by an expert baristas at Atomic Coffee Roasters and are proud to serve drinks brewed with their beans. All our espresso drinks are made with our gorgeous Italian made La Marzocco machine.

We began as a concession company providing cotton candy at sporting events. In the fall of 2021, we extended our brand by starting our own manufacturing plant. Sweet Buckets was born as an option for customers and businesses to purchase Cotton Candy and Gourmet popcorns direct from our company.

CHIC is a culmination of my retail, styling, and design background. Truthfully, the idea of this little biz was created while on lockdown during the pandemic, a little unorthodox I know, but I was determined. I identified this gap in the market the summer prior... after struggling to find a pretty dessert cart for an event at my client's new business launch. Viola! CHIC cotton candy was born, serving the cosmopolitan Boston market; giving a traditional childhood treat-- a chic upgrade. Wherever the party is, we want to be there for you! xo
