Walnut Hall Estate is an all-inclusive wedding venue on 12 acres, offering an indoor and outdoor ceremony sites, separate bridal suite and grooms quarters, an indoor reception hall with a customizable bar package and two separate houses that collectively accommodate you, and up to 24+ of your overnight guests. Edwards Place, built in 1833, was a social center of antebellum Springfield. In its gracious parlors Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Douglas, Ulysses S. Grant, and other Illinois luminaries gathered at elegant parties and balls. You, too, can have your special day in the same rooms where Abraham and Mary Lincoln were guests more than 150 years ago, now meticulously restored to the grandeur of their antebellum days. Edwards Place is available to rent for showers, weddings, and receptions – the perfect choice for a distinctive event in a historically significant setting. You can even include extra services for your event, such as the use of a piano often heard by Abraham Lincoln (and possibly played at his wedding!). Our rental space has three areas of possibility - the historic house museum, the grounds in front of Edwards Place, and the M.G. Nelson Gallery, a part of our parent organization, the Springfield Art Association, and directly attached by a doorway to historic Edwards Place.

Each of our Formal Gardens creates a unique, magical space for a wedding ceremony. The Gardens feature extensive plantings and over 100 ornaments and sculptures. Set amid the beauty of an idyllic nine-acre farmstead, this converted two-story Dutch hay barn, with its exposed timbers and 30-foot ceiling, offers a rustic and charming atmosphere unlike others found in Central Illinois. Welcome to the Firefighters Postal Lake Club. FFPLC is a private club where members and their families can enjoy boating, lake activities, family events, date nights, or just simply hanging out and enjoying the club and surrounding area. In addition to our beautiful bar and banquet hall, we have a playground, patio, covered pavilion, horseshoe pits, and access to Lake Springfield. We take great pride in our annual Lenten Fish Fries, Chicken Fry and Labor Day Party as well as many other social events open to the public.
