“This band is outstanding! Words can’t express our gratitude. Early in our planning, we checked out the band at a local bar. The enthusiasm from the mixed-age crowd solidified that we wanted to work with Covergirl. The band helped personalize a song for our first dance. We think their version is better than the original, and we wish we had recorded it. We found the band to be communicative throughout the lengthy process of planning. For example, they initiated checking in at the venue and adapted to family requests, such as a toast. They also provided a comprehensive set list to work from while proactively being open to our ideas. We found the sound technology choices to work well with the space and the stages of a reception. When the dinner took longer than expected, they added to the playlist accordingly. The volume level ended up a perfect balance for dancing and guests being able to chat. We must add that nearly every song got a different group on the dance floor each time. The band kept the dance floor active throughout the event. Our guests can’t stop mentioning the band’s excellence and kind approach; guests made it clear that they didn’t want the band to stop playing. “All of our guests commented that the music at our wedding was lovely and really tied the whole event together. Our venue did not allow DJ's or amplified sound and Astrograss had no problem playing everything acoustically. They were really great communicating before our event. They learned 5 songs at our request and let us pick plenty others for them to play from their extensive repertoire. They even coordinated with our friend (who is a singer) who wanted to sing something for us which ended up being one of the highlights of the night.”

We have been performing as a band since 2003, when Jordan Shapiro formed the band with some close musician friends in Brooklyn, NY. “I came across Sweet Tea Acoustic Duo on Instagram & was immediately amazed by how great they sounded in their videos. And boy did that translate in real life, they are AMAZING. Lori and Scott are both so talented and just so fun. It literally felt like they were part of the family & they kept the party going all night. They take so much pride in their set up too to make sure the speakers & the sound really work for the space. They also set up the microphone and speakers for the ceremony which was a huge help. We also had added Billy on the percussions for the reception and that was such a big hit to really turn up the party. They read the crowd so well & got our vibe instantly, I felt like I handpicked the set list because it was one favorite song followed by another and another! They performed a bunch of custom requested songs for us and knocked it out of the park. It made our day extra special. “Business Time didn’t ask us to write a review, but we’re so excited to write one and want everyone considering booking them to know how amazing they are (understatement). They’re not a typical wedding band, and we knew their style and songs were the vibe we wanted. Easily one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We had planned a 200 person wedding but had to pivot to 25 because of COVID. Mark and the guys were the kindest humans alive, accommodating us and being flexible with every phone call and change in plans. They never badgered us about making decisions, were super responsive, and went with the flow. We looked forward to every call with Mark. They made it so easy and it was one less thing for us to stress over during an already emotional year of planning. From the cocktail music to dinner music to the main performance, they were a huge reason the wedding was so fun and memorable. In fact, my husband and I (and our guests!) begged them to stay an hour past their scheduled stopping time - we were willing to pay whatever they wanted they were so good!! We just didn’t want the night to end. (For those wondering, they so kindly did and it was the best money we ever spent!) “Renee and Shaded Soul Band were the life of the party at our wedding in Madison CT this June!! After speaking with a number of Boston and NY based bands, we came across Shaded Soul and had the opportunity to chat with Renee. For the first time in the process we didn't feel like we were being sold magazines at the door or an overpriced used car with hidden problems. Renee spoke with us like we were real people, had endless tips and tricks for planning a fantastic reception, and didn't nickel and dime us for every extra note sung or string strummed. Renee and Shaded Soul provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. They accommodated our friends acoustic guitar number during the ceremony, played playlists we had put together during times they weren't playing, but when it came time to play the right song to keep everyone on the dance floor, we left it to the band and they made all the right choices.... we saved money on booze because no one would take a break from dancing to go to the bar!
