I view the art of photography as a subtractive process, seeing, feeling what is real and making it into my personal vision. I use all tools from modern photography – filters, digital enhancement that include adding artistic effects to images– to try to capture in an image the emotions I felt at the moment the photograph was taken.

I became passionate about the power of photography after a few photos were all I had left to remember my father who passed away when I was an infant. People and photography have been a mainstay in my life since my own family began the process of documenting their lives, and sharing their photographic memories and pictures for future generations. I have the fondest of memories of sorting through my grandparents old photographs and carefully leather bound albums, from the black and white staged portraits of generations past, to the faded color snapshots and candids of my childhood. My family has influenced me to explore the world, as they once did, teaching me an acceptance and sensitivity of cultural differences.

My history is in fine art and black and white film. I started taking photographs in high school with my Mom's 1980's camera and haven't stopped for the past 20 years. I earned a BFA in Photography + Design, studying in Massachusetts and Florence, Italy. After graduation I found my passion in photographing people and documenting the candid moments of life. I've been photographing weddings and portraits ever since, crazy to think it's been over 10 years now!
