My name is Chris, I'm a documentary wedding and elopement photographer based in Rhode Island. I first started photographing weddings 12 years ago and throughout that time, I've also worn many different hats as a photographer, from touring with bands across North America and Europe to shooting travel stories for global publications in some of the wildest places. I have a journalistic style that aims to capture photographs in an accurate, honest, and timeless way. I have been photographing weddings now long enough to see several waves of trends come and go, and I can tell you that my style has changed very little in the last 10 years. I've invested in my business and improved my skill immensely, but I've never been one to lean into trends. Trends don't often age well, and it's important to me that each photograph I deliver feels honest and timeless. My shooting style is also something that sets me apart—my goal most of the time is to be invisible and capture moments that anyone else would miss to convey the story and feel of your wedding day.

Three Words: Just hire Chris.
Take it from us - having Chris photograph our engagement, micro wedding, and vow renewal/celebration was a no brainer. We got married during the pandemic, so between planning, pivoting and rescheduling, he was very accommodating and easy to work with. He's quiet and friendly, seamlessly blending in with the crowd, which helps him to get the best candid shots of all of your loved ones. We never worried about Chris getting footage of every moment because we fully trusted him to do so. He captures every detail so beautifully as if he's telling a story. Can't thank him enough for carefully documenting the best days of our lives!

Sweet Berry Farm Event Coordinator
Chris photographed a wedding at Sweet Berry Farm, where I am the venue’s event coordinator. He was wonderful to work with! He was easy to reach and communicate with before the wedding, and was wonderful to have on sight the day of! Amazing Photographer
I've known Chris Mongeau for well over 10 years now and his work has remained quite incredible. I could not wait to book him for our wedding and sure enough, we love our wedding photos. What I love most about his style of work is his absence of personality. When I look through our photos, I can see ourselves reflected--tiny moments of character captured without any staging needed. And of course, for the more staged photos, he is gentle and guiding and again, seems to understand the personalities he is working with and how to best capture them authentically in such a graceful manner. We never felt forced or awkward and he allowed the patience and space to allow us to naturally fall into ourselves, while also helping with obvious professionalism such as angles and ideal light and background. Chris definitely has more of a photojournalistic approach and I personally love it because some of my favorite photos are moments I had no idea anyone was watching: hugs given with my father, stolen glances of love, the kids playing in the setting, it was all so lovely. I highly, highly recommend Chris Mongeau's photography for any photography need. In the past, he's done amazing head-shots and class photos for me and we look forward to the day when we can work with him again for family photos. Absolutely worthwhile experience and so grateful for the moments we have forever from his work.
