Arch Street Meeting House is a historic wedding venue located in Old City Philadelphia. The land on which Arch Street Meeting House stands was officially deeded to the Quakers in 1701 and used as a burial ground until 1872. The building was constructed in stages from 1803 to 1811 when need arose of a larger meetinghouse in Philadelphia. The site is still an active place of worship in addition to being used as an educational museum space, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2011. It is frequently rented for conferences, weddings, dinners, and graduations. The building sits on just shy of 2 acres, and our grounds include both grassy & brick spaces and lots of mature trees. For a 100-guest wedding in Philadelphia, you can expect a total budget of $28,500 to $42,800, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index. Outdoor venue rental typically accounts for about 15% of that total.
Based on Zola marketplace data, outdoor wedding venues in Philadelphia have a median starting price of $7,250, with options ranging from $4,500 to $19,500 for the middle 50% of available venues. Beyond the venue, here are the next largest budget categories:
- Florists: ~$4,979
- Catering: ~$4,205
- Bar services: ~$3,364
Venue selection significantly impacts your overall budget, so choosing based on your guest count and included services (catering, bar setup, tables, chairs) is key.
Philadelphia's outdoor wedding venues span two main capacity tiers, each suited to different celebration styles.
Medium venues (51–150 guests) offer a more intimate setting and tend to be the most affordable option, with starting prices from $4,575. These are ideal if you're planning a smaller celebration or targeting a total wedding budget around $17,300–$25,900 for 50 guests.
Large venues (150+ guests) provide flexibility for bigger celebrations and typically start from $13,785. If you're planning for 150 guests, your total budget would range from $39,100–$58,600; at 200 guests, expect $48,500–$72,700.
Many Philadelphia neighborhoods—from Old City to Rittenhouse Square—feature venues across both tiers, so you can find outdoor spaces that match both your guest count and aesthetic vision.
Yes, several neighborhoods near Downtown Philadelphia offer excellent outdoor wedding venues with distinct character.
Old City is known for its historic charm and waterfront proximity to the Delaware River, while Rittenhouse Square offers tree-lined elegance with easy access to Center City. Both neighborhoods host venues that capture Philadelphia's architectural heritage.
One standout option is The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, rated 5.0/5, which features a garden ceremony setting in a historic Downtown location. A past couple raved: "We were thrilled with the execution by the staff of a perfectly made plan by the couple. From the garden ceremony, the..."

All three venues are based on Zola marketplace data and receive consistent praise for both venue quality and vendor coordination.
Philadelphia's climate requires thoughtful seasonal planning. Late spring through early fall (May–September) offers the most reliable weather for outdoor ceremonies and receptions, with warm temperatures and lower rain risk. However, late afternoon heat can be intense, so consider sunset timing—Philadelphia's summer sunsets occur around 8:30 p.m., giving you flexibility for an evening celebration.
Rain backup is essential. Many Philadelphia venues in neighborhoods like Manayunk and Northern Liberties recommend tent rentals or venues with covered outdoor spaces. This allows you to commit to your outdoor vision while protecting against the Mid-Atlantic's unpredictable spring and fall showers.
Venue amenities matter. Confirm whether your venue includes tables, chairs, and bar setup, or if you'll need to arrange these separately. Proximity to water and greenery—leverage Fairmount Park's natural beauty or Delaware River views—enhances outdoor aesthetics without inflating costs.
Start by browsing Zola's full venue selection to filter by capacity and amenities, then schedule site visits during your target season to see natural lighting and weather conditions firsthand.
The ideal season depends on your location's climate, but spring and fall generally offer mild temperatures and lower precipitation across most regions. Summer provides longer daylight hours but can bring extreme heat, while winter limits options in colder areas.
When selecting an outdoor venue, prioritize these weather backup strategies:
- Ask about covered spaces — pergolas, tents, or pavilions that protect guests without moving the entire event
- Confirm tent rental policies — some venues include tent setup in their services, while others charge extra
- Review the venue's backup indoor option — ideally on the same property to minimize disruption
- Schedule during shoulder seasons — late April through May or September through October typically offer the most stable weather
- Choose venues with natural windbreaks — trees or structures that provide protection from unexpected conditions
According to Zola marketplace data, outdoor venues have a median starting price of $4,500 across 41 US cities, so factor in potential tent rental costs when budgeting. Always discuss contingency plans in your contract before booking, and purchase event insurance that covers weather-related changes.
Philadelphia's most popular venues book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for Saturday dates during peak season (May through October). If you're planning a wedding for spring or fall, we recommend securing your venue as soon as your date is set. That said, Philadelphia has a diverse venue landscape across multiple neighborhoods, so you may find availability closer to your date—particularly for off-peak seasons or weekday celebrations. Once your venue is locked in, you can move forward with other vendors like catering, photography, and florals. The earlier you book, the better selection you'll have and the more time you have to plan the details that make your celebration uniquely Philadelphia.
Philadelphia offers distinct neighborhoods, each with its own character. Old City features historic brick buildings and cobblestone streets—perfect for couples seeking timeless elegance. Rittenhouse Square is known for upscale, refined venues in a prestigious residential setting. Manayunk offers trendy industrial lofts and waterfront charm along the Delaware Canal. Northern Liberties has emerged as a creative hub with converted warehouses and contemporary spaces. Chestnut Hill provides a more intimate, neighborhood feel with classic architecture. The city's proximity to Fairmount Park and views of the Delaware River also make waterfront and garden venues accessible. Your choice depends on your wedding style—whether you want historic grandeur, modern sophistication, or creative edge.
