FAQs about wedding venues in Los Angeles, CA

For a 100-guest wedding in Los Angeles, expect a total budget of $38,400–$57,500, according to the Zola Wedding Cost Index. Venues account for roughly 17% of that total, or about $8,347 on average.

Based on Zola marketplace data, venue starting prices in Los Angeles range from $4,000–$11,500, with a median of $5,800. Your other major costs include catering ($6,678), florals ($6,121), bar services ($5,342), and photography ($3,728).

This is notably higher than the national median wedding cost of $25,000, reflecting Los Angeles's status as a major metropolitan market where venue availability, quality, and location command premium pricing.

Los Angeles venues range across three capacity tiers:

  • Small venues (≤50 guests): From $2,000 for intimate celebrations
  • Medium venues (51–150 guests): From $7,338, ideal for most celebrations
  • Large venues (150+ guests): From $8,481 for grand affairs

Here's how budget scales with guest count:

  • 50 guests: $23,000–$34,600 total
  • 100 guests: $38,400–$57,500 total
  • 150 guests: $52,700–$79,100 total
  • 200 guests: $65,600–$98,300 total

Most couples choose medium-sized venues for 75–125 guests, which offer flexibility in Los Angeles's diverse neighborhoods while keeping per-guest costs manageable.

Three of Los Angeles's top-rated venues stand out on the Zola marketplace:

The Oviatt: Penthouse & Event Deck (5.0/5, 40 reviews, from $4,000) offers stunning downtown rooftop views. A recent guest noted: "We reached out to The Oviatt with just a month to go—and from the very first call, Gabe was calm, collected, and fully..."

Seventh Place (5.0/5, 13 reviews, from $5,115) is praised for responsive coordination and versatile event spaces.

THE STONEHURST (5.0/5, 12 reviews, from $11,500) is a stunning estate with multiple creative spaces for ceremonies and receptions.

Each venue reflects Los Angeles's diverse aesthetic—from urban penthouses to garden estates.

Yes. Downtown Los Angeles and surrounding neighborhoods like West Hollywood, Silver Lake, and Pasadena offer excellent venue options with distinct character.

The Oviatt: Penthouse & Event Deck is located in downtown and features a dramatic event deck with sweeping city views—perfect for ceremony and reception photography.

Downtown venues appeal to couples who want walkability between hotel blocks, nearby restaurants, and iconic photo backdrops like historic architecture and the Arts District. The area also benefits from proximity to cultural landmarks and easy freeway access for guests traveling from across the greater Los Angeles region.

Neighborhoods like Pasadena add proximity to the Los Angeles Arboretum and Craftsman-era estates, while West Hollywood venues offer nightlife and energy. Consider your wedding aesthetic and guest convenience when selecting a downtown or near-downtown location.

Los Angeles enjoys mild weather year-round, but late fall through early spring (October–April) offers the most favorable conditions for outdoor celebrations. Temperatures stay comfortable (60–75°F), skies are often clear for photography, and you'll avoid summer heat and occasional June marine layer.

Peak wedding season is May through September, when venues and vendors charge premium rates. Booking in off-peak months—January through March and November—can save couples 20–30% on venue fees, though you'll want to book 6–9 months in advance even during slower periods.

Spring (March–May) is particularly popular for garden and outdoor venues in Malibu, Santa Monica, and Pasadena, so expect higher demand. If flexibility is possible, consider a weekday or Sunday wedding in winter to maximize savings on both venue rental and vendor services.

Los Angeles is a premium wedding market. At $38,400–$57,500 for 100 guests, it sits well above the national median of $25,000 and above the overall metro average of $50,098.

Nearby alternatives include:

  • San Diego: $37,200–$55,700 (slightly lower)
  • Temecula: $37,400–$56,100 (comparable)
  • Sacramento: $32,800–$49,200 (notably lower)

Los Angeles's higher costs reflect demand for iconic backdrops (Pacific coastline, Griffith Park, garden estates), competitive vendor markets, and a wide range of upscale venue options. However, the diversity of neighborhoods—from beachfront Malibu to artistic Silver Lake—means you can find venues across various price points.

If budget is primary, Sacramento and smaller surrounding areas offer savings. If venue aesthetic and location are non-negotiable, Los Angeles's investment typically delivers standout ceremony and reception spaces.

Los Angeles is one of the most competitive wedding markets in the country, so timing matters. Popular venues—especially those in coveted neighborhoods like Malibu, Santa Monica, and Pasadena—book 12 to 18 months ahead, particularly for spring and fall dates. Summer weekends and holiday periods fill even faster.

If you're planning a wedding for the next 6–12 months, don't wait. Start your search immediately and be flexible with dates and day-of-week options. Mid-week or Sunday weddings often have better availability. Based on Zola marketplace data, the median venue rental in Los Angeles starts around $5,800, so once you've identified your top choices, secure your date quickly to avoid losing your preferred location.

Los Angeles offers distinct neighborhoods, each with its own wedding character:

  • Malibu delivers coastal elegance with Pacific Ocean views and dramatic clifftop backdrops.
  • Santa Monica combines beachside charm with urban accessibility and a relaxed-yet-refined vibe.
  • Pasadena features historic estates, manicured gardens, and a sophisticated, traditional feel.
  • West Hollywood offers luxury hotels, modern lofts, and nightlife-friendly venues for contemporary celebrations.
  • Silver Lake caters to creative, artistic couples seeking warehouse spaces and industrial-chic settings.

Each area attracts different guest counts and aesthetics. Coastal venues in Malibu and Santa Monica may command premium pricing, while Silver Lake and Pasadena neighborhoods often provide diverse budget options. Consider your guest list size, style preference, and whether you want scenic backdrops or urban energy when choosing your venue neighborhood.
